Get ready for more, Canadian hockey fans! CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA returns with a jam-packed schedule featuring 17 regional match-ups, 28 all-Canadian match-ups, seven afternoon games, Saturday night doubleheaders all season long, six tripleheaders, the 2006 Hall of Fame Game, the seventh annual CBC’S HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA celebration, and the 55th NHL All-Star Game, all capped off with the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs and exclusive coverage of the 2007 Stanley Cup Final. One game each week during the season will be broadcast in High Definition (games TBD).

CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA kicks off the 2006/07 season in perfect style on Thursday, Oct. 5 with a must-see all-Canadian doubleheader. The first puck of the night drops at 7 p.m. ET as the Toronto Maple Leafs travel to Scotiabank Place in Ottawa to take on the Sens in their home opener, while Vancouver opens the season taking on the Red Wings in Detroit (distribution TBD). In the nightcap of the twin bill, the Calgary Flames open their season on the road in Edmonton, facing off against the Oilers at Rexall Place at 10 p.m. ET. This showdown is the first of six “Battle of Alberta” match-ups to be broadcast during CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA 2006/07 season.

The longstanding Original Six rivalry between Toronto and Montreal also marks another highlight for CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA broadcast schedule. Seven showdowns between these two storied franchises will be broadcast throughout the season, including the 2006 Hall of Fame Game on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. ET featuring the Canadiens taking on the Leafs at the Air Canada Centre.

CBC'S HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA will be heading west to the hockey hotbed of Nelson, B.C. for its seventh annual broadcast extravaganza on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007. Headlining the day that has come to be known as Canada’s unofficial hockey holiday is the traditional NHL all-Canadian tripleheader, starting with Montreal at Ottawa at 2 p.m. ET, followed by Vancouver at Toronto at 7 p.m. ET and Edmonton at Calgary at 10 p.m. ET. CBC’S HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA is presented by Tim Hortons.

Later that same month, CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA will go rinkside at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas for coverage of the 55th NHL All-Star Game. For the first time since 2004, the NHL’s top stars from the Eastern Conference will face off against the best from the Western Conference in the 55th edition of this mid-season hockey classic. CBC’s coverage kicks off on Tuesday, Jan. 23 with the must-see NHL Super Skills Competition and YoungStars Game, and culminates on Wednesday, Jan. 24 with the 55th NHL All-Star Game.

This season, in addition to regular Saturday night doubleheaders, fans can gear up for a total of seven special afternoon broadcasts, including Sunday Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. ET, with Sidney Crosby leading the Pittsburgh Penguins into Montreal to face off against Crosby’s once-beloved Canadiens.

CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA wraps up the regular season on Saturday, April 7, followed by the start of the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs on April 11. CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA offers viewers full coverage of all the Canadian teams’ games throughout the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs and exclusive Canadian coverage of the 2007 Stanley Cup Final.
