What better way to celebrate the nation’s birthday than with a backyard barbecue? This Canada Day, Saturday, July 1 from noon to 7 p.m., Ian Kelly (Being Ian) is throwing the biggest bash of the summer and all of YTV’s favourite Canadian cartoon pals are invited.

With original animation created by Studio B Productions, CCI Entertainment, 9 Story Entertainment and Breakthrough Animation in collaboration with YTV’s On-Air Promotions department, characters from YTV series introduce their own shows in all-new exclusive content (Promo Clip 1, interstitial Clip 2).

“This unique partnership with YTV and four Canadian studios is a testament to the strength and collaborative approach of Canada’s production industry,” said Phil Piazza, VP of Programming, Corus Children’s Television. “Both kids and adults will get a kick out of the original animated interstitials of their favourite YTV characters mingling at the party and interacting with Ian Kelly from Being Ian.”

Supporting YTV’s Big BBQ Blowout for the second year in a row, Studio B Productions provides original animation for barbecue host, Ian Kelly as well as footage from The Amazing Adrenalini Brothers and Yvon of the Yukon. CCI Entertainment gets in on the action with original content from new fall series Erky Perky. 9 Story Entertainment adds some sizzle with custom made clips from Nelvana’s Jacob Two-Two. Breakthrough Animation gives the BBQ some garnish with two specially made excerpts from Captain Flamingo. The interstitial lineup also includes Marathon Animation’s Martin Mystery and Nelvana’s Jane and the Dragon who provided original recorded voice work exclusively for this Canada Day event.

YTV, Canada’s #1 youth network, is seen in over eight million homes across Canada. As a major force in Canadian kids’ entertainment, YTV has triggered over $988 million in Canadian independent production; developed a website that averages over 90 million monthly page views; published a successful kids’ magazine, Whoa!; and conducts a highly respected annual survey, The YTV Tween Report.
