Get ready! Here comes Canada.
The country that gave John Kenneth Galbraith to the world is about to embark on a new economic challenge.
It's the United States versus Canada!
It's the best Canadian Universities' MBA students against the best the US universities can throw at us.
It's the Economist Business Challenge.
These engaging competitions will be intense and involving. They will showcase the students' knowledge and command of the issues and themes currently gripping the free world. This series will prove captivating to committed subscribers of the highly acclaimed Economist magazine as well as thinking North Americans everywhere. The combative participants will be quizzed on wide-ranging themes such as the international economy, finance, mergers and acquisitions, market strategies and emerging business trends around the world.
The Economist Business Challenge is an intensely competitive half-hour of fast-paced questions, answers and problem solving. The contestants are the best and the brightest of today’s university level business students. They are tomorrow’s leaders of industry, business and government. Teams who score the highest number of points during the first cycle of the round robin competition move on to face-off against other winners. Along with the EBC championship title, the winning university takes the top prize of $3,000, $1,000 goes to the runner and the MVP (student) will win $1,000.
The elimination round pits Canada’s elite against the best the US has to offer. The following North American universities are competing in the first round of this year’s contest:
1. New York University (Stern) vs. York University
2. University of Virginia (Darden) vs. University of Montreal (HEC)
3. Northwestern University (Kellogg) vs. Concordia University
4. Harvard University vs. McGill University
5. Yale University vs. Queen’s University
6. University of Michigan vs. University of Toronto
7. University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) vs. University of Western Ontario (Ivey)
