Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting’s specialty channels took home 13 awards at this year’s Geminis including Best History Documentary for History Television’s The Last Just Man; Best Host in a Practical Information or Performing Arts Program or Series for HGTV’s Nik Manojlovich; Best Lifestyle/General Interest Series for Food Network Canada’s Opening Soon; and Best Talk Series for Discovery Health Channel’s Health on the Line.

Discovery Health Channel’s win in the category of Best Talk Series for the original series Health on the Line, hosted by Avery Haines, is the first Gemini to be awarded to a digital channel. History Television and HGTV each won four awards, while Showcase won two - Food Network Canada and Life Network won an award each.

“The success of the Alliance Atlantis Broadcast Group at this year’s Geminis is very gratifying, both as recognition of the high-quality, creative and entertaining programming that we consistently bring to our viewers and as further acknowledgement that the specialty channels are indeed a successful and powerful presence on the Canadian television dial,” said Phyllis Yaffe, CEO, Alliance Atlantis Broadcast Group. “Our 12 channels play a significant role in creating and commissioning new, original Canadian programs in the lifestyle, dramatic and documentary genres.
