Entertainment Tonight Canada (ET Canada) is scheduled to air the week of September 12th on The Global Television Network. In partnership with its US counterpart Entertainment Tonight (ET), the newsmagazine promises to be one of the most exciting new programs launching in Canada this year.
The show will be hosted by Global entertainment veteran Cheryl Hickey, along with on-air reporters Rick Campanelli (former MuchMusic icon), Rosey Edeh (former on-air talent for CNN, NBC and CTV's "E-Talk"), Kim D'Eon (former reporter for CBC "The Hour") and Roz Weston (former senior reporter for Toronto 1's "A-List").
The program will play an important role in showcasing Canadian talent and furthering Canada's reputation as an entertainment and celebrity hotspot. Canadian and US ET production teams will collaborate on a daily basis, giving Canadian producers access to the ET news machine, its archives and contact base providing ET Canada with a hotline to the stars!
"It's extremely exciting to be part of the world's largest entertainment news brand," said Barbara Williams, Senior VP of Programming for Global Television Network. "This program plays a key role in the Global schedule, giving us a power hour of entertainment news, and further underscoring our commitment to celebrating Canadian talent across our network."
The leading authority on breaking entertainment news since its debut more than 24 years ago, Entertainment Tonight is the No. 1 syndicated entertainment newsmagazine in the world. Paramount Domestic Television produces ET and is launching its 25th season this Fall. CBS Paramount International Television distributes the program internationally. The daily, half-hour entertainment show features reports on news events and stories covering film, television, music, fashion, literature and interactive media.
Linda Bell Blue, Entertainment Tonight's executive producer commented, "It's with great pleasure we welcome ET Canada to the Entertainment Tonight family."
ET Canada will have a distinct perspective from its US counterpart but a familiar feel, with comparable graphics and the signature ET theme song that almost anyone on the street can hum on demand. Segments will feature a blend of Canadian and global entertainment news told from a Canadian perspective.
"ET Canada is an effective and powerful way to build Canada's star system by sharing our Canadian stars and their stories with our viewers on a daily basis," said Zev Shalev, executive producer for ET Canada.
Long trusted by celebrities and A-listers worldwide as the most ethical and credible entertainment news source, ET is typically offered exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes access not granted to competing programs.
As the undisputed industry leader, ET regularly enjoys the status of being "first" with celebrity news and has earned the reputation as a safe harbor for stars to tell their stories and "set the record straight" about their lives.
One component giving ET Canada a clear advantage over other entertainment news programs will be its access to the ET archives which contain 24 years of exclusive background information and history related to the entertainment world's who's who.
Both Entertainment Tonight Canada and Entertainment Tonight will air on The Global Television Network.
