Coinciding with the first anniversary of one of China’s deadliest tragedies, HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral Media’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada), presents China’s Unnatural Disaster: The Tears of Sichuan Province. Premiering day-and-date with HBO in the U.S. on Thursday, May 7 at 8 p.m. ET/MT, this new, original documentary explores the aftermath of the catastrophic 7.9 earthquake that hit Sichuan Province in rural China on May 12, 2008, resulting in nearly 70,000 deaths, including 10,000 children.

Premiering on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 8 p.m. PT on Movie Central and 9 p.m. ET on The Movie Network, this new half-hour dark comedy, executive produced by Academy Award®-winners Steven Spielberg and Diablo Cody, explores how a dysfunctional family copes with a mother who suffers from dissociative identity disorder.

Astral Media’s The Movie Network and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central today announced the launch of HBO Canada, a channel that will deliver a full slate of HBO’s award-winning, boundary-pushing, genre-defining series, films, comedies and live events. Launching on Thursday, October 30, 2008, HBO Canada is a multiplex channel that will be offered at no additional charge to customers who subscribe to The Movie Network or Movie Central.
