Global Television announces launch of HDTV

The Global Television Network announced today that it plans to broadcast in High Definition Television (HDTV) beginning October 11, 2004. The network will initially offer six hours a week of primetime programming in HDTV. Further HDTV programming will be added to the primetime schedule as it becomes available.

Analysis of Global and CH Fall Schedule

I read Fall 2004 Highlights: Global and CH (Part 1) posted by RAD. Based on this message I conducted some analysis. I assumed Global/CH will renew all of their existing programming except for Dateline NBC (Friday) which has an inconsistent broadcast history with the two networks.

Global to air hit Australian series The Block

The Global Television Network announced [yesterday] that it has optioned the Canadian format rights to the Australian reality series The Block. In addition to the option, Global has also secured the Canadian rights to the U.S. network version of the acclaimed series, slated for broadcast on Fox next year.

Founder and Chairman of CanWest Israel Asper
passed away this morning. Mr. Asper was admitted to St. Boniface Hospital Winnipeg at approximately 9.30 am this morning and he passed away shortly after in the presence of his immediate family, wife Babs Asper, sons David and Leonard and daughter Gail.
