On the eve of tomorrow's JUNO Award Nominees Press Conference, CTV and the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced today that multiple JUNO Award-winner Avril Lavigne and opera superstar Measha Brueggergosman are the latest artists slated to perform on The 2008 JUNO Awards broadcast on CTV, Sunday, April 6 from Calgary's Pengrowth Saddledome.

New Programs: The Movie Network and Movie Central commission cutting-edge new original drama series Sanctuary

Astral Media's The Movie Network (eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment's Movie Central (western Canada) have commissioned 13-episodes of one of the first television series ever to be conceived from an Internet-based concept. Initially developed as eight broadcast-quality webisodes from the creative talent behind Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis, Sanctuary is an original drama series that is also the first to be shot entirely on green screen.

New Programs: NBC Picks Up CTV’s The Listener

The Listener (working title), a new CTV Original drama from Shaftesbury Films, will also air on NBC in the United States, it was confirmed today. It’s the second time this week a CTV-developed Canadian series has been picked up for broadcast on a major U.S. network in primetime.

A new CTV original Canadian drama series currently in pre-production has been picked up by CBS for broadcast later this year in the United States. Flashpoint (working title, a.k.a. Sniper) is a new police drama about an elite, big city Strategic Response Unit (SRU). CBS has picked up 13 episodes of the one-hour drama series, which was green-lit by CTV in December.
