General News: Catherine Sherriffs Appointed Late News Anchor, CTV Montreal

CTV Montreal announced today the appointment of Catherine Sherriffs to the role of Late News Anchor, effective July 4. A reporter for CTV Montreal’s top-rated newscasts for the past two years, Sherriffs is a familiar face and voice to Montrealers. Additionally, she has spent the past four years as a newscaster on local radio.

Production news: Bell Media Picks Up Options on Novels by Three Canadian Authors

Bell Media announced today that it has begun early development on three unique projects, based on the work of some of Canada’s most respected and best-selling authors. Bell Media has optioned the television rights on two novel series, one written by William Deverell and the other, Giles Blunt, two of Canada’s foremost award-winning mystery writers. In addition, Bell Media and Shaftesbury are in development on an adaptation of Old City Hall, written by acclaimed criminal lawyer-turned-author, Robert Rotenberg.
