CMT entertains this fall with newly rebranded CMT Central

Country Music Television

Canada's premier source for country entertainment news, music and stars approaches the 2005/06 season totally refreshed, as CMT announces a rebranding of its flagship show. The revamped CMT Central, now called Central, features a new on-air look, a greater focus on entertainment and new on-air personalities. The first episode of Central premieres Tuesday, September 6 at 7 p.m. ET.

"CMT is committed to connecting audiences to what matters most to them," said Ted Ellis, Executive in Charge of Production, CMT. "As CMT's most interactive show, Central is in position to directly respond by bringing them the inside entertainment news they're looking for. The new show will feel a little bit younger and a little bit more contemporary to match the lifestyle of our viewers."

The show's transformation includes a new logo, new set and changes to the show's format that allow for a more focused lifestyle approach. The new format also opens the door to more viewer participation, including possible in-studio audiences for live music events.

Elissa Lansdell returns as Central's Nashville correspondent, bringing weekly updates from Music Row as well as live remotes from special events. Elissa will be joined in the Central studio by two new co-hosts and a reporter, all yet to be named.

Central airs weeknights at 7 p.m. and Monday to Thursday at 11 p.m. Central Weekend, a best-of compilation wrapping up the week, airs Saturdays and Sundays at 11 p.m.

CMT is Canada's source for country music videos, music programming, and daily entertainment news on CMT Central. CMT also offers an exciting prime-time lineup of comedy and drama series, movies and specials and is available in eight million homes. In 2000, the network established the Video Advantage Program to support the development and production of original Canadian music videos for emerging artists. With over 3.7 million impressions each month, the station's website, www.cmtcanada.com, is Canada's largest website dedicated to country music.
