OMNI1

This Fall OMNI Television brings back some all time fan favourites. Here is what is coming this September 2005 and January 2006.

THE X-FILES – OMNI.2
THE X-FILES chronicles the lives of Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), two disparate FBI agents who were originally assigned to investigate the bureau's unsolved cases, known as the "X-Files" -- many of which suggest paranormal involvement. Celebrated by critics in the US since its premiere and a ratings winner on the FOX network, THE X-FILES has also become an international phenomenon.
The X-Files is the winner of the 1995 and 1997 Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series, recipient of the prestigious Peabody Award recognizing excellence in broadcasting, and a four-time Emmy Award nominee for Outstanding Drama Series

The Bernie Mac Show– Now 5 nights a week: OMNI.1
Emmy & Peabody Award winning series The Bernie Mac Show stars stand-up comic, Bernie Mac. This half hour of irresistible off-beat humour revolves around a comedian and his executive wife, Wanda, who are raising Bernie's sister's three children. He's the well-meaning disciplinarian with the best of intentions for his family. He might not always do the right thing, but his heart is in the right place. Families everywhere are sure to relate to Bernie's childrearing dilemma.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent (January 2006) - OMNI.2
From the producers of the Emmy Award-winning Law & Order, the longest-running drama on television, comes a compelling series detailing the extraordinary crime-solving techniques and exploits of the elite Major Case Squad. In the NYPD, Detective First Grade Robert Goren is the best there is, called in by Captain James Deakins for special high profile crimes and hard-to-crack cases that must be solved, whatever it takes, by exposing "Criminal Intent."

Word Cup Soccer – 2006 (Languages TBD): - OMNI.1 &OMNI.2
Next year, OMNI Television will deliver the non-stop action of World Cup Soccer to be hosted in twelve cities and stadiums throughout Germany beginning June 9th, 2006 to July 9, 2006. RETURNING TO OMNI TELEVISION THIS FALL:

The Bernie Mac Show (OMNI.1)
The Bernie Mac Show
stars stand-up comic, Bernie Mac. This half hour of irresistible off-beat humour revolves around a comedian and his executive wife, Wanda, who are raising Bernie’s sister’s three children. While trying to instill good old fashioned values provides ample fodder for laughs, they always seem to be at Bernie Mac’s expense. He’s the well-meaning disciplinarian with the best of intentions for his family.

Late Show with David Letterman –
simulcast (OMNI.1)
There is only one David Letterman, and his wry sense of humour has been a staple of OMNI Television’s late night programming for 11 years. Interviews with celebrities share the spotlight with Stupid Pet Tricks, The Top Ten List and Paul Shaffer’s orchestrations with guest musical artists.

George Lopez (OMNI.1)
Stand-up comedian, George Lopez, stars in this hilarious family comedy. George is a guy whose life has become much more complicated since he was promoted from an assembly-line worker to plant manager at a Los Angeles airplane-parts factory. George’s life at work and at home are never dull, thanks to his prankster friends, his acerbic but loving mother, and his devoted wife and kids.

Just Shoot Me (OMNI.1)
Starring George Segal as Blush magazine baron, Jack Gallo, Just Shoot Me features a quirky ensemble cast which includes Laura San Giacomo as Maya Gallo (Jack’s over-achieving, yet insecure daughter), Wendy Mallick as libidinous fashion maven Nina Van Horn, David Spade as Jack’s puckish personal assistant, and Enrico Colantoni as playboy photographer, Elliot. Together this cast of neurotic characters comically illustrates the fickleness and superficiality that is the fashion world.

Everybody Loves Raymond – simulcast (OMNI.1)
It’s no wonder, ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ – comedian Ray Romano is surrounded by a cast of characters so universally familiar that every viewer can relate to some aspect of the show. A well-meaning yet overbearing and meddlesome mother (Marie), an uncouth and vulgar father (Frank) and a long standing sibling rivalry with big brother (Robert) are par for the course in most families. But when you live a stone’s throw away from them and add a wife (Debra) “who is always right” and three young children to the mix, the combination becomes rife with laughter.

Wheel of Fortune – simulcast (OMNI.1)
The ever-popular game show, Wheel of Fortune, hosted by Pat Sajak and the lovely Vanna White is now in its third season on OMNI Television. Contestants spin a wheel of fortune to earn prize money that goes towards their winnings if they can guess the secret phrase on a giant letter board before landing on the bankruptcy dial of the wheel. Viewers enjoy watching and playing along as they, too, try to figure out the phrase as it is exposed one letter at a time.

King of the Hill (OMNI.1)
The half hour animated series, King of the Hill is set in the heartland of America – the fictional suburb of Arlen, Texas, where barbeque-loving, proud Texan and loyal family man Hank Hill, reigns over his subjects: multi-tasking wife, Peggy, 13-year old son, Bobby, and nubile niece, Luanne. Hank sees himself as the voice of reason in a world of incompetents and do-good liberals. Therein lies the irony and comic basis of the series. In addition to the regular cast of characters, there have been guest voice appearances by the likes of Chris Rock, Meryl Streep, Heather Locklear, Drew Carey, Burt Reynolds and Willie Nelson.

Friends (OMNI.1)
The success of the half hour sit-com, Friends owes as much to its writers as it does to its tight-knit ensemble cast of actors. The comedy series that is set in Manhattan and traces the lives of six friends taps into all manner of timely trends, phobias, stereotypes and mannerisms while keeping the laugh factor in high gear. The characters include Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Monica (Courtney Cox-Arquette), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Ross (David Schwimmer), Chandler (Matthew Perry) and Joey (Matt LeBlanc). These friends, naïve and emotionally available are obsessed with each other! Viewers quickly become engaged with the show and its incredible cast of characters as they stay in, hang out and get involved! Friends will always keep you smiling and wanting more with its witty banter and quirky situations.

The Simpsons (OMNI.1)
A favourite among children and adults alike, The Simpsons is the longest-running prime-time animated series in television history and the yardstick against which all other animated series are measured. Its blend of political satire, timely social references and sight gags evokes laughter from both young and old. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and the host of colourful characters that inhabit the town of Springfield have kept audiences in stitches since they first sprang to life as a series of 30-second spots on the Tracy Ullman Show. They have carried that momentum through 14 seasons as a regular series and show no signs of letting up.

Metropia (OMNI.2)
Metropia
! is an exciting dramatic soap series about a group of multicultural, multi-ethnic, hip and happening, twenty-somethings living in Toronto. The series reflects the diverse cultural make up of Toronto and deals with young adult contemporary themes – university; jobs; social and cultural issues and of course sexual themes.

Rockford Files (OMNI.2)
Jim Rockford is an easygoing private investigator who specializes in cases considered "unsolvable" by the police.

Elimidate (OMNI.2)
One lucky single gets to date four different suitors while the audience watches in anticipation of who will ultimately be chosen. Meantime, the suitors must battle it out, knowing that their every move is being monitored and judged. Sometimes this competitiveness results in cattiness and unseemly behaviour, which makes the show all the more entertaining.

Cheaters (OMNI.2)
Cheaters
is a reality show that allows the wayward to place themselves in the spotlight! Never before has there been a television program of this intensity! During this one-hour weekly show, viewers are witness to the misgivings and intrigue of a cheating partner. Right on camera, Cheaters uncovers the mysteries of an unfaithful mate!

Northern Exposure (OMNI.2)
Northen Exposure
, the quirky one-hour drama-comedy set in Alaska, spawned a whole new approach to adult comedy. From the puckish Doctor Joel Fleischman, and innocent and endearing Ed, to the poetry quoting midnight DJ, Chris, and guarded female pilot, Maggie O’Donnell, all of the characters on Northern Exposure are just a little off centre, with their own individual idiosyncrasies that when taken as a whole, create an enchanting picture of life as it could only exist in a small town with unique weather conditions and lunar influences. The viewer enjoys being drawn into this quasi-mythical town of Cicely, Alaska with all of its off-beat characters and unusual predicaments.
