Animal Planet unveils fall programming highlights
Posted on Tuesday, July 05, 2005 - 06:44 PM
Animal Planet

New to Animal Planet: Corwin’s Quest, Buggin With Ruud and Animal Lifeline. Returning series include: Animal Cops Detroit, Animal Cops Houston, Miami Animal Police and The Most Extreme.

From majestic beasts and unusual bugs, Animal Planet presents a pair of new series this fall that captures the wonder of animals large and small.  on a quest for the best, Jeff Corwin travels the globe in search of the world’s most interesting animals in Corwin’s Quest.  Getting up close and personal with animals in their wild habitat, Corwin explores different animal “themes” in each episode, such as animals that attack, the speediest species and giants of the animal kingdom and seeks out the creatures that best demonstrate these features. Whether you love bugs or loathe them, Buggin With Ruud, hosted by quirky entomologist Ruud Kleinpaste, is an eye-opening journey into the fascinating world of insect. In this series that travels to Africa, Brazil, Asia and beyond, Kleinpaste encounters one of nature’s most accomplished marksmen – the bombardier beetle – as it fires boiling hot, toxic fluid at its enemies; is serenaded by a whistling tarantula and singing caterpillar; and witnesses the rhinoceros beetle lift 850 times its own weight, or the equivalent of a human lifting 80 midsize automobiles.

Also this fall, Animal Plant salutes the special caregivers that give endangered, sick and injured creatures treatment and refuge. In each episode of the three-part series Animal Lifeline, host Lyndal Davies arrives with a $10,000 cheque and presents it to a designated project/sanctuary – with a challenge. The recipient organization must then determine how to use the money to the best effect. Along the way witness the operations, issues and critical decisions in various sanctuaries as they struggle to assist in the survival of the wild animals in their care. Witness the positive outcome of the cash infusion and see how the donation made a difference.

Animal Cops Detroit, Animal Cops Houston, Miami Animal Police, The Most Extreme return to Animal Planet with new episodes this fall.
