Vidéotron is pleased to announce that it will begin carrying Global TV in high definition (HD) on channel 608 of its line-up in the Montréal area, Sorel, Gatineau/Rockland, Rivière-du-Loup and Saguenay/Saint Félicien, as of April 7, 2005.
No extra charge Global TV will be added at no additional charge to the existing HD Extra package, which costs $5.99 per month and includes Rogers Sportnet HD, Discovery HD, TSN HD, Citytv HD, CTV HD and Fox HD. It will be available to all customers in the localities listed above who are equipped with a Vidéotron HD set-top box and an HD television set. The latest channel additions, combined with flexible illico digital packages, demonstrate Vidéotron’s continued leadership in home entertainment.
Salt + Light Television and EWTN unscrambled The Salt + Light Television and EWTN specialty channels, carried on channel 242 and 241 respectively, will be unscrambled from April 6 until the election of a new pope. Subscribers to Vidéotron’s illico Digital TV service will be able to follow Pope John Paul II’s funeral and special programming from the Vatican, free of charge. Salt + Light Television is a Canadian Catholic service that broadcasts primarily in English but also in French, Italian, Spanish and other languages. EWTN, the largest Catholic television network in the world, carries commercial-free programming in English. The two religious channels are normally available in digital mode as a single package for $2.99 per month.
Couleur Jazz Vidéotron also announces the addition of Couleur Jazz (broadcasting at 91.9) to its cable FM channel line-up in Montréal. The much-requested radio station will be carried on cable channel 92.7, replacing RFI.
