The new season of APTN National News: Contact starts on October 1, 2004. For the first time in APTN¹s history, the national call-in show will launch with a worldwide broadcast on the Internet via streaming audio at www.aptn.ca/news.

With Contact being available to an even larger audience, new ideas and perspectives will be brought to the discussion table,² says Rita Deverell, Director of News and Current Affairs. ³Always mindful of our mandate to share the stories of Aboriginal Peoples, the APTN National News Team is proud to be able to bring these stories to people not only in Canada, but worldwide,² she adds.

Hosted by seasoned journalist, Rick Harp, Contact is a current events program that examines issues of the day from Aboriginal perspectives. This season, Contact tackles hot topics like same sex marriages in Aboriginal communities and the misuse of cultural ceremonies on reality TV.

"I am really looking forward to having calls and e-mails come in from people in the US and around the world,² says Contact Host Rick Harp. ³This is truly a historic moment for us.
