Fall 2002 Highlights: BBC Canada

BBC Canada

Highlights of the fall season of BBC Canada.

Auf Wiedersehen Pet (North American Premiere) – Wed., Sept. 4 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT (weekly)
The hit drama of the 1980s about an intrepid band of British builders is back with a new series. Jimmy Nail and Timothy Spall are among the original cast members who return as the “Magnificent Seven,” a group of builders who left a recession-hit Britain for work in Germany and Spain. In the North American premiere of this new series, the friends take a road trip from Middlesborough to Arizona and find the friendships they made 15 years ago have, against all odds, survived. Almost half of Britain’s viewing audience (47%) tuned in to watch the triumphant return of this series in the U.K.

Manchild (Canadian Premiere) – Tues., Sept. 3 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT (weekly)
Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) stars in the exclusive Canadian premiere of this politically incorrect comedy about four middle-aged men who spend their days and nights proving that they’re not yet past their prime. Having shrugged off the responsibilities of marriage and fatherhood, Terry, James, Patrick and Gary are on the verge of a whole new adolescence. Ready to feel like teenagers again, they’re out to prove to the world – and to themselves – that life begins at the tender age of 50.

Spooks (Canadian Premiere) – Wed., Oct. 16 at 9 p.m.ET/10 p.m. PT (weekly)

Set in James Bond’s own MI5, this controversial spy thriller follows the elite members of Britain’s clandestine security service. Tackling everything from organized crime to terrorist attacks, the five-member team struggles to keep their work life hidden from their loved ones while defending their country. Matthew Macfadyen (The Way We Live Now) stars in this series that The London Times calls “exciting, clever, gung ho television.”
