| Astral Media goes to the Sundance Film Festival |

The following Canadian films supported by Astral Media have been accepted into the 2004 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Salt Lake City starting January 15th through until January 25th: THAT TOUCH OF PINK (Director: Ian Iqbal Rashid), THE SADDEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD (Director: Guy Maddin), A SILENT LOVE (Director: Federico Hidalgo), and SEVEN TIMES LUCKY (Director: Gary B. Yates).
These four feature films were supported by Astral Media's The Movie Network, Super Ecran, and Astral Media The Harold Greenberg Fund through either their script development, equity and / or pre-buy programs.
THAT TOUCH OF PINK, selected for the prestigious Premiere Program tells the comic story of a young, gay Indo-Canadian man (Jimi Mistry) living in London who is given romance advice by the debonair ghost of Cary Grant (brilliantly played by Kyle MacLachan) only to find his life turned upside down when his seemingly conservative mother comes to visit from Canada.
THE SADDEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD, also a part of the Premiere Program, is renowned Canadian director Guy Maddin's film set in Winnipeg during the Great Depression. The film involves a contest announced by the legless and glamorous Lady Port-Huntly (Isabella Rossellini) to find the saddest music in the world, in hopes of increasing the sales of her company's brand of beer, based on a script by acclaimed author, Kazuo Ishiguro.
A SILENT LOVE, accepted into the Festival's World Cinema Program, is about a shy, lifelong bachelor, tired of his solitary life, who searches for love on the internet and quickly marries a feisty younger Mexican woman, only to discover over time that he truly loves her mother.
SEVEN TIMES LUCKY, also part of the World Cinema Program tells the story of a "principled" grifter who is involved in a heist and has to navigate through a minefield of mobsters, murderers, and crooked cops, without picking up a gun, and without betraying his friends.
In addition, Astral Television Networks is pleased to congratulate Marteinn Thorsson, an award-winning on-air producer for The Movie Network since 2000. 1.0 is Thorsson's feature film debut with directing partner Jeff Renfroe.
1.0, accepted into the Festival's Dramatic Competition Program, is about a young computer programmer who is unwittingly being used as a guinea pig in a major corporate experiment.
