Even in the ultra competitive TV business, the holiday season seems to bring out the best in people.
Global Television wishes to thank CTV for its recent press release recapping the fall television season – a release that generously reminded readers of the dramatic shift occurring in the TV landscape.
In its release, CTV graciously included the following list of Canada’s Top 10 programs among Adults 25-54. This list indicates that Global now has 4 of the Top 10 shows in the country, including Canada’s #1 show.
Canada’s Top 10 Television Programs, Fall 2009 - Adults 25-54
#1. HOUSE
2. GREY'S ANATOMY
3. SURVIVOR
4. CRIMINAL MINDS
5. THE AMAZING RACE
6. CSI NEW YORK
7. CSI
8. CSI MIAMI
9. NCIS
10. LIE TO ME
In its haste to issue the release, CTV staff must have accidentally neglected to include the list of top shows among Adults 18-49, the key demographic for most TV advertisers. In this demo, Global has the #1 show in the country (House), the only new addition (Glee), and a hit program (NCIS) that’s just 4,000 viewers shy of a Top 10 position.

In the same spirit of goodwill, Global would like to congratulate CTV for maintaining its top ranking among Canadian networks this fall. Global is also very pleased with its own performance – with 34% growth in primetime, the network has had its most successful fall in over half a decade.
Everyone at Global wishes the staff at CTV the very best of the holiday season. We look forward to collaborating with you further in the new year to ensure advertisers and members of the press stay informed about the ever-changing TV landscape.
