The Canadian premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season Two placed TELETOON as the number one rated television network for the timeslot with K2-11 at 8:30 pm ET/PT on Friday night, as audiences across Canada tuned in to watch brave Jedi warriors come face-to-face with brutal bounty hunter Cad Bane. In an event that began at 5:30 pm with the final five episodes from Season One along with exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews with voice actors and series Supervising Director Dave Filoni, the first episode of Season Two debuted at 8:30 pm drawing 441,000 viewers age 2+*

“The Force is clearly strong with this series,” said Len Cochrane, President TELETOON. “As proved by the numbers for the movie premiere, the consistent performance of season one and now this result for the premiere of season two, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a ratings winner with both kids and adults.”

Season Two continues throughout the year headlining TELETOON’s Superfan Friday block with new episodes every Friday at 8:30 pm ET/PT. Superfan Friday begins each Friday at 7 pm with a selection of action titles including Batman: The Brave and The Bold and Justice League. The male-skewing block has proven popular with both children and adults who are fans of superhero and action titles. Star Wars fans can catch repeat broadcasts of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season Two episodes at 6:30 pm on Saturday evenings as well as on teletoon.com where new episodes will be available for streaming every Monday.

Ahead of the premiere of Season Two, TELETOON also scored strongly with the North American premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars CG-animated feature as the TELETOON Big Ticket Movie on Saturday, September 5 at 7 pm. The movie saw an average audience of 560,100 viewers P2+ with adults 18-49 making up 52% of that audience. Season One of the series has also drawn impressive numbers as the number one series on the network this season to date with kids 2-11. Season One episodes will continue to air as part of Action Force every Sunday at 9:30 am and 12:30 pm.

This fall sees TELETOON attracting large audiences of all ages with high profile series and marquee movie titles. The success of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on TELETOON in reaching both kid and adult viewers is reinforced by the TELETOON broadcasts of other audience-winning properties such as Scooby-Doo: The Mystery Begins. The live-action movie, following the famous gang of sleuths as they meet and solve their first mystery, drew an AMA of 844,000 P2+ during the network premiere on September 26 at 7 pm as part of The Big Ticket Movie. The broadcast drew an AMA of 421,000 18-49 making it the most popular non-sports telecast of the day for that age group. The October 3 encore presentation, also at 7 pm, averaged 395,000 viewers (2+). The Big Ticket Movie presents high-profile family films every Saturday evening.

“TELETOON gets families. Results like this show that we have programming that appeals to kids and their
parents.” said John Lanthier, Director Sales, TELETOON. “With solid results like this, the ongoing success of blocks such as Superfan Friday and the Big Ticket Movie along with upcoming high profile movie and programming events, I’m confident that we will continue to grow this very powerful audience, providing numerous opportunities for advertisers.”

Upcoming Big Ticket Movie events include the Canadian premiere of the live action Ben 10: Alien Swarm plus the December broadcast of the animated feature The Legend of Frosty the Snowman. Other upcoming movie presentations include The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring in the New Year. Star Wars takes over the TELETOON schedule in March as, across the month, the network will be airing the live-action feature films as The Big Ticket Movie each Saturday.
