Topping YTV's October Highlights are new series HOW TO BE INDIE and Celebrity Guest Star Week.
HOW TO BE INDIE – NEW SERIES
Created by writer Vera Santamaria (Little Mosque on the Prairie) and produced by Heroic Film Company in association with YTV, this series is told through the eyes of 13-year-old Indira “Indie” played by Melinda Shankar (Degrassi: The Next Generation), as she tries to balance her immigrant family’s South Asian traditions and her Canadian lifestyle. But even with these challenges and the struggle of being a teenager, Indie and her best friend’s, Abi and Marlon, are determined to make eighth grade their year to shine.
In the first episode, How to be Indie: How to Get Off Carlos Martinelli’s List premiering on Friday, October 2 at 6 p.m., Indie plans to throw a huge party to get off Carlos’ humiliation list. This premiere episode stars Carlos, host of YTV’s afterschool block The Zone.
CELEBRITY GUEST STAR WEEK ON YTV
YTV celebrates star power with a week of viewers’ favourite series starring celebrity guest stars, beginning everyday at 4 p.m. in The Zone starting Monday, October 12 until Friday, October 16. Premiere episodes include:

Everybody Hates Chris premieres Tuesday, October 13 at 8:30 p.m. with Whoopi Goldberg

THANKSGIVING
It’s turkey time! This year, YTV celebrates Thanksgiving with a special lineup of classic movies and specials on Monday, October 12. The programming event kicks off with A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving at 8 a.m., followed by Garfield’s Thanksgiving at 8:30 a.m. and the blockbuster movie Barnyard beginning at 9 a.m. Topping it all off, YTV will be paying tribute to a loveable little piglet with the premiere of Babe at 11 a.m. followed by Babe: Pig in the City at 1 p.m.
HALLOWEEN
This Halloween, YTV will be scaring viewers’ socks off with scary movies and specials for an entire week, from Saturday, October 17 to Saturday, October 31. Halloween highlights include:
IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN
In this trick-or-treating classic which debuted on network television in 1966, the perpetually lonely Charlie Brown is thrilled he has been invited to a costume party. Meanwhile, Linus skips trick or treating to camp out in the pumpkin patch, waiting for The Great Pumpkin to rise and deliver presents to all the good little boys and girls. And be sure to listen for Charlie Brown’s classic line, “I got a rock”. This Halloween special airs Saturday, October 24 at 7 p.m. (r) Wednesday, October 28 at 6:30 p.m.
GARFIELD’S HALLOWEEN ADVENTURE
Garfield gets into the Halloween spirit by dressing up as a pirate and making Odie one of his crewmen in Garfield’s Halloween Adventure. On their journey they end up at a haunted house that’s filled with real pirates back from the grave in search of treasure – now it’s up to pirate Garfield to get himself and first mate Odie out of hot water. This Halloween special airs Saturday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m. (r) Tuesday, October 27 at 6:30 p.m.
YTV MOVIE PREMIERES
THE REEF – PREMIERE
In this heart-felt story, a young fish named Pi travels to the Great Barrier Reef to reunite with his family. After losing everything, he meets the love of his life but finds out that she already has the unwanted affections of a bully shark. Pi must follow his destiny to save his love and rid The Reef of the menacing shark for good. This animated blockbuster stars the voices of Freddie Prinze Jr., Evan Rachel Wood and Rob Schneider. The Reef premieres on Sunday October 4 at 4 p.m. during ZAPX.
