HEARTLAND Returns Sunday, October 4th
Posted on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 - 04:21 PM
CBC

Amy has always known she has a gift with horses – and carrying her mother’s legacy on the Heartland Ranch is something special that only those close to her truly understand. But in the dramatic opening of season three, Amy rescues a trapped horse and her powerful abilities are captured on video, causing an online sensation for the world to see. HEARTLAND returns to CBC Television on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. for 18 new one-hour episodes, as Amy learns to deal with the internet frenzy and her newfound fame as a miraculous horse whisperer.

With solid ratings throughout its first two seasons and a strong fan base nationwide, HEARTLAND has become a Sunday night family favourite. Having faced the loss of their mother, the Fleming sisters are building their own lives. Amy and Ty are finally a couple, and Lou and Grandpa Jack have also found their matches – although not without complication. Estranged father Tim is sticking close to his family, and Ty is learning what it takes to become a veterinarian with Scott’s guidance.

“Canadian families look forward to their Sunday nights with HEARTLAND. This season, viewers will enjoy the dynamics on the ranch as Amy comes out of her shell to learn more about her gift and herself,” said Kirstine Stewart, general manager, CBC Television.

HEARTLAND stars Amber Marshall as Amy Fleming (The Elizabeth Smart Story), Graham Wardle (In the Land of Women) as Ty, Chris Potter (Silk Stalkings) as Tim, and Michelle Morgan (Diary of the Dead) as Lou Fleming. Shaun Johnston (Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) is also featured as Grandpa Jack, Jessica Amlee (My Life Without Me) is Mallory, Nathaniel Arcand (Moose TV) is Scott and Kerry James (The Boy Who Cried Werewolf) is back as Caleb.

HEARTLAND hosts a popular social network I Love Heartland where fans can connect with other fans, get exclusive information about the show and enter contests online. HEARTLAND is adapted from Lauren Brooke’s international best-selling novels of the same name, a series of 21 books created in the U.K. by Working Partners and published in Canada by Scholastic Canada. Over 6.5 million copies have been sold worldwide.

Filmed in Alberta, HEARTLAND is a co-production of Dynamo Films of Toronto and Seven24 Films in Calgary, and is written by Heather Conkie, Leila Basen, David Preston, Mark Haroun and Ken Craw. Executive producers are Heather Conkie along with Jordy Randall and Tom Cox of Seven24 Films and Michael Weinberg of Dynamo Films. HEARTLAND is available in HD.
