Bell ExpressVu today announced the addition of 16 specialty channels to its 300-plus channel video and audio line-up. The new channels, including Silver Screen Classics, MTV2, and Paris Première, strengthen Bell ExpressVu's leadership position in cultural programming by offering a wider selection of music, news and movies to its customers.
"Bringing the widest and richest programming is critical in our efforts to remain Canada's leader in digital home entertainment", said Timothy McGee, President, Bell ExpressVu. "This means more value and choice for our 1.3 million subscribers. After recently introducing international and High Definition content, we are now delivering more programming with specialized content."
The 16 channels launched today are part of a yearlong programming expansion that will see 76 new channels added to the Bell ExpressVu line-up by the end of 2003. To date, 59 channels have been introduced, including 15 HDTV channels.
Bell ExpressVu's new programming line-up includes:
More News: EuroNews, leading pan-European news channel which broadcasts simultaneously in seven languages and offers a wider perspective on the world; Green Channel, Canada's only television network dedicated to environmental issues, which offers information on how to participate in global efforts toward a sustainable natural environment.
More Movies: Silver Screen Classics, Canada's only TV channel specializing in movies from the 1930s-1950s and featuring everyone's favorite stars in classic movies that have stood the test of time; Stampede, which showcases the best of Western movies and television series.

More specialty content in French: EuroNews, leading pan-European news channel; Paris Première International, a French-language channel that lends the world a passport to French culture, fashion, cinema, and the Parisian lifestyle.
As of today, Bell ExpressVu is also adding the French regional station Radio-Canada Manitoba. This channel will be available in the Locals and Réseaux francophones packages at no additional cost.
Multicultural: Tamil Vision, the country's only Tamil-language channel featuring Canadian content through locally produced news, community programming and variety shows.
The expanded Bell ExpressVu lineup is being delivered by the company's new Nimiq 2 satellite, as well as the capabilities provided by the company's state-of-the-art broadcast centre in Toronto.
To access the programming announced today, customers must have the dual- satellite upgrade package, which allows them to access programming from both Nimiq 1 and Nimiq 2 satellites. The dual-satellite kits are available through Bell ExpressVu at 1-888-skydish or by visiting Bell World / Espace Bell stores or one of Bell ExpressVu authorized retailers.
