Global Television Network

Global’s Entertainment Tonight Canada, part of Canada’s most watched hour of entertainment news, has revealed the exclusive details surrounding their coveted red carpet events to be held during the upcoming 34th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

From their brand new Festival Central headquarters in the heart of Yorkville, ET Canada kicks things into high gear, showcasing its presence with wall to wall coverage of all things TIFF. Celebrating the World Gala premieres of “DEFENDOR”, “CHLOE” and “GLORIOUS 39”, ET Canada will host three consecutive nights beginning Saturday, September 12. On the third and final night, ET Canada joins forces with Playback Magazine for the publication’s 3rd Annual Canadian Film & Television Hall of Fame event honouring 10 national Film & Television icons.

“From A-list stars sipping on Moët et Chandon at Festival Central Headquarters at the Hazelton Hotel, to closing down Yorkville Avenue, one of Toronto’s busiest streets, we’re pulling out all the stops for a Festival unlike ever before,” said Tamara Simoneau, Sr. Executive Producer, ET Canada. “Whether you’re in Toronto or Vancouver, viewers can tune into the show every night and feel like they’re on the red carpet with us.”

Fans can tune-in for exclusive ET Canada Festival Central Coverage starting Thursday, September 10 – 7pm ET/7:30pm PT on Global.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12
“DEFENDOR” – Alliance Films

Directed by Peter Stebbings; starring Woody Harrelson, Kat Dennings and Sandra Oh.

Reality intersects with delusion in the mind of Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson), a regular man who adopts a superhero persona known as Defendor, and combs the city streets at night in search of his arch-enemy, Captain Industry. In his attempts to combat crime and bring down Captain Industry, a drug and weapons dealer who he mistakenly blames for the death of his mother, Defendor ends up befriending a young prostitute, Katerina Debrofkowitz (Kat Dennings). Armed with unconventional weapons of mass confusion, aided by his new friend, and putting his life on the line, Defendor proves that everyone is capable of making a difference.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13
“CHLOE” – E1 Entertainment

Starring Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore and Amanda Seyfried. Directed by Atom Egoyan; Produced by Ivan Reitman and Executive Produced by Jason Reitman.

Catherine (Julianne Moore), a successful doctor, suspects her husband David (Liam Neeson), a handsome music professor, is cheating on her. To lay her suspicions and fears to rest, she hires an irresistible young woman, Chloe (Amanda Seyfried), to test David’s fidelity. Chloe’s torrid tales of her encounters with David lead Catherine on a journey of sexual and sensual re-discovery. But by opening the door to temptation, she puts her family in great danger.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14
“GLORIOUS 39” – The Works International

Starring Romola Garai, Bill Nighy, Julie Christie, Eddie Redmayne, Jeremy Northam and Christopher Lee. Written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff.

A British thriller set in London and the idyllic Norfolk countryside when Britain stands on the brink of war. The story is centered around the formidable Keyes family, who are determined to preserve their very traditional, English way of life in the midst of political uncertainty. The adopted, eldest sibling Anne is a budding young actress with a seemingly perfect life, however, her world begins to unravel when she stumbles across secret recordings hidden by outside forces in the out-buildings of the family home. Whilst trying to uncover the origin of these recordings, a tangled web of dark secrets begins to unfurl along with a growing sense of menace and betrayal.
