OMNI Television is pleased to announce the launch of a new weekly programme for Urdu speaking viewers: Aadab (Greeting) will premiere on OMNI.2, Saturday, September 5th at 1:00 p.m. ET, with an encore presentation the following day at 4:30 p.m. ET
“We are delighted to welcome a new Urdu language programme to OMNI.2’s weekend line-up,” says Alain Straiti, Vice President, OMNI Station Group, Specialty TV & Development. “The introduction of Aadab of OMNI.2 will further reflect this growing community and invite audience interaction in their language of comfort.”
Aadab is a 30 minute independent production from Samina Riaz (Radio Ghar Aangan) that highlights the issues of the local Urdu speaking community while providing a weekly platform for audience views. The programme features community news and also regularly explores useful topics such as law, immigration and education.
OMNI.2 will also soon air a new documentary for the Urdu language audience -- Urdu: a Beleaguered Language follows poet and writer Ambassador Karamatullah Ghori across Canada as he tries to unravel why his mother tongue is rapidly losing significance among younger generation Urdu speaking Canadians
Urdu: a Beleaguered Language will make its world television premiere on OMNI.2, Sunday, September 13th at 5:00 p.m. ET, following the encore presentation of that week’s episode of Aadab.
