With a top-rated line-up of hit series, exclusive cable dramas and big-ticket movies, viewers won’t want to miss a second of Showcase’s new Fall schedule, launching August 31. From the unconventional storylines of Weeds, the outrageous new original series The Foundation, the chemistry-fuelled Bones and colourful characters in House, to Hollywood heavy-hitters Superbad and Spiderman 3, Showcase delivers the best and richest collection of television this season. The new schedule coincides with the unveiling of the channel’s refreshed logo and on-air look.
“Showcase is a powerhouse full of TV’s top-rated dramas and this Fall the schedule is bursting with colourful, entertaining content,” said Daniel Eves, Vice President, Strategic Programming, Specialty, Canwest Broadcasting. “The ability to mix buzz-worthy series like Weeds with clever original content and big-ticket movies makes Showcase unlike any other Specialty channel in Canada. The strength of this Fall’s programming will have viewers hooked.”
Returning to the schedule is the hotly-anticipated fifth season of Weeds. Mary-Louise Parker returns as the small time pot entrepreneur Nancy Botwin who finds herself in harm’s way. After learning of her pregnancy in the season four finale, Nancy must cope with the reality of having a drug lord for a baby-daddy. Guest stars joining the stellar cast this season include Jennifer Jason Leigh as Nancy’s neurotic sister and Canadian songstress Alanis Morissette as Nancy’s Zen Ob/Gyn. Weeds season five airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning September 13 only on Showcase.
Showcase also welcomes new seasons of breakout cable hits:
• Season three of Holly Hunter’s powerful police drama Saving Grace beginning Thursday, October 1 at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
• Larry David’s sixth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm launching Sunday, September 13 at 12:30 a.m. ET/PT.
• It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is back for an outrageous fourth season beginning Sunday, September 13 at 1:30 a.m. ET/PT.

The Fall schedule is home to more hit-series than ever before. Brand new to the channel is the darkly amusing drama, Bones. Made available for the first time as a strip, Showcase has the quirky series four days a week. Bones stars Emily Deschanel as uptight Dr. Brennan and David Boreanaz as free-spirited FBI Agent Seeley Booth. The unlikely duo team up to solve murder investigations using unconventional methods. The series comes to the Showcase roster Monday through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning August 31.
Smash-hit NCIS also joins the Showcase schedule this Fall. The popular drama airs Monday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET/PT beginning August 31. Rounding out Showcase’s stellar line-up of sophisticated dramas is the viewer favourite House. New episodes of House air Monday through Thursday at midnight beginning August 31.
The home of dynamic original programming, Showcase delivers two brand-new Canadian series along with returning fan favourites. From director Mike Dowse and starring comedian Mike Wilmot is the new original comedy series, The Foundation. The comedy tackles the elite world of philanthropy, where sincerity, sentimentality and immense altruism are intertwined with petty egos and greed. The hilarity ensues on The Foundation Sundays at 10:40 p.m. ET/PT (immediately following Weeds) beginning September 13.
From Executive Producers Paul Gross, Frank Siracusa, and Malcolm MacRury comes the one-hour drama Cra$h & Burn. Cra$h & Burn is the story of Jimmy Burn, a young claims adjuster at a cut-throat insurance corporation. Jimmy must manoeuvre his way around insurance scams and the criminal underworld on the gritty streets of Hamilton. Cra$h & Burn hits the air waves in November.
Returning with new seasons are Canadian fan favourites:
• Frenemies Kenny and Spenny are back with bigger and bolder competitions. Round six of Kenny vs. Spenny returns Sunday, November 15 at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
• Campy dramatic series Paradise Falls is back for a third season. Chronicling twisting tales of murder, mystery and steamy love affairs, the series returns to Showcase Wednesday, September 2 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT.
