OMNI Television is proud to present the world television premiere of A Linc in Time, as part of its Signature Series. This 60 minute documentary launches to English language audiences in coverage areas served by OMNI.2, on Monday, August 17th at 3:30 p.m. ET – with an encore presentation the following Wednesday (19th) at 10:00 a.m. ET.

From filmmaker Nicole Brooks, A Linc in Time chronicles the extraordinary life of The Honourable Lincoln MacCauley Alexander, Canada’s first Black Member of Parliament and first Black Lieutenant Governor – a true pioneer and one of the Canada’s living legends.

“I am honoured to have made A Linc in Time and deeply privileged that through this film, a few more pages to have been added to Canadian history books that might’ve otherwise been lost,” says Nicole Brooks, Director/Producer of A Linc in Time. “I thank OMNI Television for their help with A Linc in Time, a story well worth telling, about one of the most influential leaders in Canadian history.”

Inspired by his nickname, A Linc in Time will “Linc” Alexander’s key life moments to pay tribute to Lincoln Alexander’s triumphs, obstacles and tragedies. At 88 years young, he is an active spokesman on race relations, veterans’ issues and mental health. His trademark wit and humour are still very much in evidence.

“Lincoln Alexander’s legacy of overcoming barriers and his dedication to social justice continues to inspire, across generation and culture,” says Madeline Ziniak, National Vice President of OMNI Television. “We are pleased to support A Linc in Time as an enduring portrait of a true Canadian groundbreaker, in every sense of the word.”

With archival footage, photographs and personal memoirs – recounted by Lincoln Alexander himself – interwoven with one-on-one interviews and dramatic vignettes, A Linc in Time shows how Alexander’s early years led him to Canadian politics and beyond. The result is a complex and sometimes heartbreaking, but always inspiring, portrait.

A Linc in Time was made possible with financial assistance from OMNI's Independent Producers Initiative, a $32.5 million independent production fund that to date has supported over 200 new documentary programmes. Interested producers can access funding criteria at OMNI Television’s web site www.OMNItv.ca .
