Posted on Thursday, July 23, 2009 - 12:27 PM
Country Music Television

Corus Entertainment’s CMT, home of family-friendly entertainment, announced today highlights from its 2009 fall schedule, featuring original Canadian produced series, more comedy, new episodes of returning favourites, hit movies and special programming events.

“Our primetime comedy block continues to be a ratings success for CMT, and this fall the popular family sitcom According to Jim will be a great addition to the schedule,” said Ted Ellis, Vice President, Programming, CMT. “Also joining our must-see lineup of returning programming, popular movies and musical events, viewers are invited to follow the personal real-life stories of the Wilson family in Meet The Wilsons, and track the success of Tammy and Ali in the new series UnStable, as they struggle to build a world-class equestrian facility while balancing their friendship and families.”

CMT PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS:

MEET THE WILSONS
Premieres: Sunday, September 20 at 9 p.m. ET
Dave and Kortney Wilson are the real deal. With the pursuit of a music career, two small children to care for, a house to flip, a single rocker pal who needs a place to crash, and an adoption to get ready for – life is pretty complicated. Follow this fun loving family through laughter and tears as they tackle their life’s journey. Produced by Canada’s RGK One Shot Productions in association with CMT Canada, this eight-part half-hour series will air with two back-to-back episodes for four weeks.

UNSTABLE
Premieres: Thursday, October 29 at 11 p.m. ET
Their mothers told them there would be days like this; days when every penny they’ve invested looks lost, when friendship is bruised by business and when dreams dry up. Follow best friends and business partners Ali, Tammy and 12 year-old daughter Alexandra, through the emotional journey of building their business, Wendigo Farms, into a world-class equestrian show barn. With two half-hour episodes airing each week back-to-back, this six-part CMT original series follows these skilled young women as they are pitted against established industry giants, the harsh challenges of daily life and their desire to have meaningful relationships.

ACCORDING TO JIM
Premieres: Tuesday, September 15 at 9 p.m. ET
Jim (Jim Belushi) is an abrasive but lovable suburban father of five who loves the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Blackhawks. Jim often finds himself in precarious situations and his laziness leads him to search for alternative ways of doing things. While Andy might be his best friend, Dana (Kimberley Williams-Paisley) and Jim’s wife Cheryl (Courtney Thorne-Smith) frequently manage to team up against him.

KARAOKE STAR, SEASON 3
Premieres: Thursday, August 20 at 7 p.m. ET
After a cross-country audition tour, this 10-episode series hosted by Paul McGuire is in search of karaoke fans who can sing their hearts out for a $10,000 cast prize. One finalist from each city will be chosen by viewers via online and text voting. In addition, candidates who missed the initial auditions can submit videos of their performance online at CMT.ca from Thursday, August 20 at 9 a.m. ET until Thursday, October 8 at 11:59 p.m. ET for a chance to become a Karaoke Cyber-Star. Two Karaoke Cyber-Stars will be chosen for a chance to compete at the series’ finale in Banff, Alberta.

CMT STAR CROSSED
Premieres: Friday, September 18 at 8 p.m. ET
What do Kevin Costner, Faith Hill, Reese Witherspoon, Keith Urban and Billy Bob Thornton all have in common? They have all walked the line between Nashville and Hollywood with movies and music.
