Highlights for the 2003-2004 season. NEW DRAMA Border Café North American Premiere Nov.24 at 8pm ET The Border Café,a converted 1930s petrol station on the outskirts of Hayle Point,is home to a colourful cross-section of characters seeking a chance to fulfil their dreams.Former tribute-band rock star Charlotte Smith buys the café for her childhood sweetheart,David Doyle,as a place he can turn into an American-style diner.Here he can live out his own dream of performing live, while his brother Kidder runs the kitchen. Daniel Deronda Winter 2004 Winner of Best Miniseries at the Banff Television Festival 2003,Daniel Deronda is a stunning adaptation of George Eliot’s last novel.The alluring,vivacious and selfish Gwendolen Harleth (Ramola Garai,Attachments)falls in love with the idealistic Daniel Deronda (Hugh Dancey,Madame Bovary,Black Hawk Down) upon spotting him at a roulette table.When she’s forced into an oppressive marriage,she turns to Deronda only to find that he is torn between his affection for her and his fascination with Mirah Lapidoth (Jodhi May),whom he rescued from drowning.
