Joytv rebranding takes prize at Promax
Posted on Sunday, June 28, 2009 - 08:16 PM
JoyTV

Branding elements created for the launch of Joytv (www.joytv.ca) in Vancouver and Winnipeg took honours at the 2009 Promax|BDA Design Awards Competition.

The Joytv campaign received a Bronze certificate for Network Package Design in the Integrated Media category.

In May 2008, the Toronto-based multimedia company S-VOX acquired local conventional television stations CHNU-TV in Vancouver and CIIT-TV in Winnipeg. The stations were re launched on Sept. 1, 2008 under the brand name Joytv.

S-VOX engaged Toronto-based agencies Cundari SFP (www.cundari.com) and Loopmedia Inc. (www.loopmedia.com) to develop the Joytv brand name and all of the related creative elements.

The rebranding was supported with an extensive campaign that included on-air promos as well as outdoor, print and radio advertising.

The Joytv on-air campaign also earned a Gold Award at the 2009 WorldFest-Houston Remi Awards in April of this year.

The stations, officially designated Joytv 10 in Vancouver and Joytv 11 in Winnipeg, introduced new program schedules last fall that included, for the first time, simulcasts of top-rated U.S. network properties such as Smallville, Supernatural, 60 Minutes and 48 Hours Mystery.

Joytv ' s fall 2009 schedule will feature additional simulcasts, including the news magazine series 20/20 and the daytime drama One Life to Live, as well as the Golden Globe Award nominated comedy series Everybody Hates Chris in a Monday-to-Friday strip, and a number of locally produced information and current affairs programs.

Said Bill Roberts, President and CEO of S-VOX: " Our marketing team, working with our partners at Cundari and Loopmedia, have developed a vibrant, engaging and instantly recognizable brand that truly stands out in these local markets. We are proud to see our branding efforts win recognition in the international arena, and look forward to building on Joytv ' s success in the 2009-2010 season."

Promax|BDA (www.promaxbda.org) aims to be the leading global resource for marketing, promotion and design professionals within the entertainment/information industry. Its mission is to lead the international conversation about the role of marketing, promotion and design in the value of media.
