| CTV channels pre-empt programming in celebration of the life of Michael Jackson |

CTV commemorates the life and career of music icon Michael Jackson, with two fresh original productions from ETALK and MuchMusic and a half-hour MTV US special. Throughout the weekend CTV properties, including ETALK, MuchMusic CTV National News, CTV News Channel, MuchMore, MTV, CP24, and Star pre-empt their regular programming to pay tribute to the King of Pop.

Tonight’s show will be dedicated to Michael Jackson. Tom Walters, CTV’s LA Bureau Chief has the latest information from LA, Tom Kennedy, CTV’s London Bureau Chief is in London with the world’s reaction, as well as tributes from Canadian celebrities and fans.

A 1997 short film/long-form video written by Michael Jackson and Stephen King. The movie includes a series of dance routines performed by Michael Jackson and his family of ghouls. Every song from the film was taken from Michael Jackson's HIStory and Blood on the Dance Floor albums.

Featuring Michael Jackson in one of his first silver screen appearances, THE WIZ is an urbanized retelling of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz featuring an entirely African-American cast. Diana Ross was cast in the role of Dorothy and Jackson sang and danced as the Scarecrow; he was 19. Quincy Jones, who produced The Wiz's soundtrack, agreed to produce Jackson's next solo album. Their first collaboration, Off the Wall (1979), sold nine million copies and had four Top 10 hits.
