| Canadian Documentary Premiere on OMNI Television: East Meets Western |

OMNI Television is proud to launch the world television premiere of East Meets Western to English language audiences in Ontario, Alberta and BC on Sunday, June 28th.
The 60-minute documentary debuts as part of OMNI’s Signature Series in coverage areas as follows:
• Ontario - OMNI.2 (CJMT-TV) – 10:00 p.m. ET
• Calgary - OMNI in Calgary (CJCO-TV) – 10:00 p.m. MT
• Edmonton - OMNI in Edmonton (CJEO-TV) – 10:00 p.m. MT
• Vancouver and Victoria - OMNI in BC (CHNM-TV) – 8:00 p.m. PT
From Calgary-based White Iron Pictures, East Meets Western tells a story of volunteerism, commitment and support between two seemingly disparate cultures. With the Calgary Stampede as its backdrop, East Meets Western links festivities within the Calgary Ismaili community with events of the Stampede, revealing remarkable similarities between the two.
“How the local Ismaili community came to be involved with the Calgary Stampede is just part of the story in East Meets Western,” says Jean Merriman, Executive Producer, and Executive Vice President of White Iron Pictures. “Essentially, East Meets Western shows how shared values can overcome cultural barriers, and we are happy to communicate this valuable message to diverse audiences served by OMNI Television.”
Started in 1912, the Calgary Stampede is an important cultural icon; one of Canada’s largest annual events and the world's largest outdoor rodeo. For 10 days each summer the city of Calgary, Alberta is transformed into a celebration of cowboy culture (rodeo, chuckwagon races, agricultural events and more) as millions of visitors from around the world come to enjoy “Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.” This year’s Stampede runs July 3-12.
“OMNI’s network of multilingual/multicultural stations is a fitting platform from which to launch a thoroughly Canadian production like East Meets Western, with its uplifting tale of cross-cultural unity,” says Madeline Ziniak, National Vice President of OMNI Television. “We are pleased to support the production of East Meets Western and to showcase its world premiere throughout our evolving national system.”
To maximize reach across its target audiences, East Meets Western was produced in Hindi as well as English. The Hindi language version of East Meets Western will premiere on OMNI.2 (Ontario), Sunday, July 5th at 7:00 p.m. (ET) and on other OMNI stations, date and time to be announced.
East Meets Western was produced and developed in association with OMNI Television. It was produced with the assistance of the Government of Alberta, Alberta Film Development Program, White Iron Pictures Inc. and CAVCO.
