Fall 2003 Highlights: Drivee-In Classics
Posted on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 - 05:47 PM
Drive-In Classics

Highlights for the 2003-2004 season.

Put the fun back into your television movie watching with Drive-In Classics – a celebration of the funny, entertaining and sometimes provocative drive-in movies of the '50s, '60s and '70s. Drive-in theatres represent one of the last great icons from the golden era, an innocent period of North American culture defined by the emergence of baby-boomer teens as consumers of pop culture and their love affair with chrome-plated automobiles. It's fun in the sun, bikinis on the beach, action on the drag strip, and monsters on the loose. Drive-In Classics... welcome to your theatre under the stars.

NEW TV SERIES AT THE DRIVE-IN:

Drive-In Classics is introducing TV series to its program line-up in August. This includes the Canadian television premiere of the fan favourite series Witchblade.

WITCHBLADE
Canadian Television Premieres
Every Friday night, beginning August 1
The story of a New York detective whose search for justice brings her into contact with an ancient, intelligent living weapon so powerful it can battle Earth's darkest evil forces. Based on the best-selling comic book and stars Yancy Butler as Sara Pezzini.

BLACK SCORPION
Every Monday night, beginning August 4
A comic book-style action series starring former Miss Kansas, Michelle Lintel, as a straight-laced cop by day, who turns into sexy crime fighter ‘Black Scorpion’ at night. Featuring ten Playboy Playmates, this comedic adventure series wouldn’t be complete without Adam West as Black Scorpion’s arch nemesis, Breathtaker. Executive produced by Roger Corman.

THE IMMORTAL
Every Tuesday night, beginning August 5
After his wife is killed and his daughter is kidnapped by demons, Raphael Cain makes an oath to get rid of every demon on earth to save the rest of humanity. Stars Lorenzo Lamas.

SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE'S THE LOST WORLD
Every Wednesday night, beginning August 6
Based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic tale of dinosaurs and adventure, The Lost World tells the story of a mismatched expedition team led by adventurer and scholar Professor Edward Challenger who is determined to prove the existence of an age unknown. Stars David Orth, Jennifer O'Dell, Peter McCauley, Rachel Blakely and William Snow.

TREMORS
Every Thursday night, beginning August 7
Reprising his role from all three Tremors films, Michael Gross stars as Burt Gummer, a no-nonsense survivalist living in the sleepy desert town of Perfection, Nevada. He and his fellow Perfectionites struggle to maintain an uneasy peace with El Blanco, an infamous giant prehistoric worm wreaking havoc in their town. Also stars Newfoundland native Victor Browne, Marcia Strassman, Lela Lee, Gladise Jimenez and Dean Norris.

MAKE A DATE AT THE DRIVE-IN EVERY WEEKEND:

FRIDAY NIGHT HORROR MARATHON FROM DUSK TILL DAWN
Every Friday starting at 9pm ET
Dare to be scared. Drive-In Classics brings out ghoulish ghosts, hair-raising haunted houses, vampires, werewolves and aliens every Friday night. Nostalgic favourites such as The Amityville Horror, Curse of the Swamp Thing and The Terror are just a few of the scream-generators. Grab a blanket to hide under because a fright is guaranteed at the Drive-In!

STEAMY WINDSHIELDS
Every Saturday Night after 10pm ET
Re-live those hot summer nights with STEAMY WINDSHIELDS every Saturday on Drive-In Classics. Sexy hostess Trish d’Lish serves up an evening of tantalizing fun. Nothing says racy like escaped female convicts, college boys opening a sex clinic, or sorority sisters making their feminine wiles worthwhile on campus. These sizzling movies are why the drive-in became so popular.

SALEM’S LOT
Sunday nights starting at 9pm ET
Joe Bob Briggs without the boots… Elvira without the cleavage… the Alastair Cook of exploitation cinema… we are referring, of course, to Rob Salem, the host of SALEM’S LOT. From the comfort of his own lair, Rob Salem introduces a Drive-In Classics triple bill every Sunday night. Whether it’s biker flicks, bikini-clad babes or monster movies – there’s just no telling what might be on tap for SALEM’S LOT.

NEW MOVIES AT THE DRIVE-IN:

- 100 Rifles
- Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes III
- Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes IV
- Daydream Believers: Story Of Monkeys
- Deadly Bees
