Joytv announces fall lineup
Posted on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 - 07:08 AM
JoyTV

Joytv, which serves the Vancouver/Victoria and Winnipeg television markets, today unveiled a fall program lineup that includes simulcasts of top-rated current affairs and drama series, a rich selection of syndicated comedy offerings and new local productions.

Toronto-based S-VOX, Canada's leading provider of programming content on spirituality, faith, personal growth and wellness, acquired and relaunched two former OMNI stations last year under the Joytv brand name.

Joytv 10 serves the Vancouver, Victoria and Fraser Valley regions of B.C, while Joytv 11 serves viewers in the Winnipeg area.

Programs returning to Joytv in 2009-2010 include simulcasts of the hit dramas Supernatural on Thursday nights and Smallville on Fridays.

Simulcasts of the award-winning current affairs series 48 Hours Mystery and 60 Minutes will return on Saturday and Sunday nights, respectively. In addition, Joytv will simulcast the long-running ABC news magazine series 20/20 on Friday nights.

Other new offerings include a weekday simulcast of the enduringly popular daytime drama One Life to Live, and a Monday-through-Saturday airing of the entertainment news magazine The Insider.

Joytv is also adding the Golden Globe Award-nominated series Everybody Loves Chris to a weeknight comedy lineup that includes such viewer favourites as Frasier, Dharma & Greg and The Bernie Mac Show.

Local productions remain an important part of the Joytv lineup. Returning programs such as the talk series Foundations with host Willard Thiessen will be joined by original new titles that include P3, an information series exploring the spiritual dimension of society and culture, and a reboot of the prime time current affairs series The Standard, hosted by 60 Minutes veteran Peter Klein.

In addition, Joytv will supplement its "Tikka" Saturday lineup of South Asian programming with Ek Noor, a new series for Punjabi Canadians that will air Monday through Thursday evenings in prime time.

Said Mark Prasuhn, S-VOX's Chief Operating Officer and Chief Content Officer: "We are pleased to have built successfully on the solid foundation that Joytv established in its inaugural season. We have strengthened Joytv's position as the current affairs news magazine leader in its markets, and solidified our comedy and drama offerings. At the same time, we will continue to deliver one of the best and most diverse selections of inspirational multi-faith programming for viewers in Vancouver and Winnipeg."
