On Sunday night, legendary actress Angela Lansbury earned a Tony Award for her performance in Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit. It goes on the mantel with four others -- the first of which she won 43 years ago.
In a stage and screen career that spans six decades, Angela Lansbury has created a whole gallery of memorable characters, from Agatha Christie's Miss Marple in The Mirror Crack'd to a scheming senator's wife in The Manchurian Candidate. But it's in the role of Jessica Fletcher on the long-running TV mystery series Murder, She Wrote that Lansbury, now 83, became an icon.
Canada's VisionTV airs classic episodes of Murder, She Wrote with Angela Lansbury every weeknight at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
A widowed mystery novelist and amateur sleuth living in the quaint hamlet of Cabot Cove, Maine, Jessica has an uncanny habit of stumbling into murder wherever she goes. In the tradition of all great fictional detectives, she relies on nothing more than a keen mind, common sense and an ear for the truth to arrive at a solution to the crime -- usually one step ahead of the police.
Tom Bosley (Happy Days), William Windom and Ron Masak are the other series regulars. Guest stars include the likes of George Clooney, Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City), Courteney Cox (Friends), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and Marcia Cross (Desperate Housewives).
