HBO Canada Gets Ready For The Second Season of TRUE BLOOD

The Movie Network & Movie Central

A perky telepathic waitress and her 173-year-old vampire soul mate, born- again brother, shape-shifting boss and foul-tempered pal are back for a new season of the acclaimed HBO drama series True Blood. HBO Canada, a multiplex channel from Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral Media’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada), bites into season two of True Blood on Sunday, June 14 at 9 p.m. ET/MT.

The critically-acclaimed, sexy, intense and wildly entertaining series from Oscar®- and Emmy®-winning creator and executive producer Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) is based on the best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris and tells the tale of a small Louisiana town where vampires live openly amongst their human counterparts, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood. The series follows the unconventional romance between waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and her relationship with Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), the town’s first vampire.

Season two picks up with the discovery of a dead body outside Merlotte’s and Sookie’s reunion with Bill after a daylight rescue that almost turned him to dust. Throughout the season, Sookie and Bill’s relationship is tested as they face a new litany of adventures and must deal with Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), the rebellious teen-vampire who Bill was forced to sire as punishment for killing a fellow bloodsucker. Sookie’s pal Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley) sets down new roots with the mysterious Maryann (Michelle Forbes) while Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) resolves to get into shape-shift shape after a forest foray. Finally, Sookie’s brother Jason (Ryan Kwanten) finds new purpose with an anti-vampire sect. Joining the cast for a two-episode guest-starring role is Evan Rachel Wood as the 500-year-old Vampire Queen of Louisiana.

Viewers will have the chance to catch up on the first season of True Blood with a marathon on HBO Canada. >From June 6 to June 9, three episodes will air nightly back-to-back beginning at 8 p.m. ET/MT.

All 12 new episodes of True Blood will be offered in High Definition on HBO Canada HD and will be available on demand following the network premieres.

HBO Canada is a multiplex channel offered by Astral Media’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada).
