After travelling across the country in the winter of 2009, hometown boy, comedian Sam Khullar – best known as Sugar Sammy – makes his triumphant return to Montreal for the final leg of his cross Canada tour in this one-hour original comedy special. Filmed in the beautiful Place-des-Arts theatre, Just For Laughs Presents Sugar Sammy: Live In Concert showcases a rising comedy star at the top of his game with A-list material guaranteed to bring the house down. The Canadian original comedy special will premiere Sunday, June 14 at 10 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of Astral Media’s The Movie Network and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada).
Sugar Sammy is Canada’s comedy playboy, a young swinging bachelor on the make whose sense of humour will slay viewers. They’ll relish his special style of audience interaction, his charm and the hilarious scenarios he presents that take a shot at every ethnicity under the sun – including a few jokes in French!
About Sugar Sammy
As one of the hottest, young comedians on the international circuit today, Canada’s Sugar Sammy has recently enjoyed considerable success around the world. Setting him apart from the rest, he performs in four languages (English, French, Punjabi and Hindi), has enjoyed record attendance and received unanimous praise from critics worldwide for his uproarious material and his laconic delivery.
Sugar Sammy’s TV credits include a special Minorities Rules on Showtime Arabia, Just For Laughs (CBC), Comedy Now (CTV), and he has also appeared on The Comedy Network (Canada), The Comedy Channel (Australia), and on Dutch TV, each timing winning audiences over. He has also opened for Dave Chappelle and worked with George Lopez and Damon Wayans.
In 2008, Sammy performed in the USA, UK, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, Holland, Dubai, Germany, Hong Kong, Thailand, The Philippines, and the Caribbean. He also toured across Canada promoting his first CD, “Down with the Brown”, adding shows in all cities due to overwhelming demand.
