Bell ExpressVu enhances viewing experience by adding 26 new channels to 300-channel lineup
Posted on Thursday, June 12, 2003 - 09:14 AM
Bell TV (ExpressVu)

Bell ExpressVu today announced the addition of 26 new channels to its 300-channel video and audio lineup, taking the lead in high definition television programming in Canada, strengthening its position in international programming, and adding EWTN, the largest religious media
network in the world.

"Bell ExpressVu has led the way in choice and value in programming and we're now building on that offering with more of what Canadians want on their television - richer programming and Canada's leading lineup of HDTV channels," said Timothy McGee, President, Bell ExpressVu. "With more than 1.3 million subscribers across the country, and as an important part of Bell's complete communication service proposition, we are constantly working to deliver programming that suits all preferences and provides the best TV experience available."

The 26 channels launched today are part of a year-long programming expansion that will see 76 new channels added to the Bell ExpressVu lineup by the end of 2003.

The new programming lineup includes:

15 high definition channels: CBS, ABC, FOX, NBC, and PBS from Boston and Seattle, CHUM Television's CITY-TV from Toronto, one channel featuring HD movies from Movie Central or The Movie Network and three pay-per-view channels.

With a wider screen and stunning image detail, HDTV offers the ultimate television experience to viewers. The fine-grained high definition picture contains six times the information of a standard television image. Accompanied by multi-channel and CD-quality sound, the result is a vibrantly crisp, movie-theatre quality experience... without having to go to the theatre.

10 international and multicultural channels: ATN B4U, which features Bollywood movies broadcast in Hindi; ATN Alpha Punjabi; ATN Tamil, which features dramas, sitcoms, and talk shows; TV Polonia, featuring Polish programming; two Polish radio channels, Polskie 1 and 3; Odyssey 1 and 2, which feature Greek programming and two multicultural local channels, OMNI2 and CH Montréal.

Eternal Word Television Network: EWTN is the largest religious media network in the world providing Catholic news and documentary programming 24 hours a day - now available nationally throughout Canada on Bell ExpressVu.

The expanded Bell ExpressVu lineup is being delivered by the company's new Nimiq 2 satellite, as well as the capabilities provided by the company's new, state-of-the-art broadcast centre in Toronto.

To access the expanded programming announced today, subscribers require a dual-satellite upgrade package which allows them to access programming from both Nimiq 1 and Nimiq 2 satellites. The dual-satellite kits are available by simply contacting Bell ExpressVu or visiting one of its authorized retailers.
