This February, get ready to get schooled as The Comedy Network presents a brand new curriculum of Saturday night stand-up specials with SATURDAY NIGHT STAND-UP, premiering Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. From Steven Wright to Larry the Cable Guy, SATURDAY NIGHT STAND-UP showcases the biggest names, from the most critically acclaimed, to up-and-coming comedic trail-blazers, with all-new, uncut, and totally uncensored stand-up specials.
From industry legends Gilbert Gottfried, Jaime Fox, and Ron White to cutting-edge, alt-comedy stars like Russell Brand, the all-new SATURDAY NIGHT STAND-UP series serves up a weekly roster of A-list comedy. Comedy megastar Steven Wright kicks off the series February 7, with the Canadian premiere of STEVEN WRIGHT: WHEN THE LEAVES BLOW AWAY, shot in Toronto’s own Elgin Theatre!
Dry, wry, and witty, Steven Wright unleashes a torrent of thought-provoking one-liners in his trademark lethargic delivery. Ranked #23 on Comedy Central's list of the 100 greatest stand-up performers of all time, this Oscar®-winning comedian keeps the audience in stitches with his random observations on everything from baby monitors as a form of wiretapping to his addiction to placebos.
Other up-coming comics in SATURDAY NIGHT STAND-UP:
Feb. 14 - GILBERT GOTTFRIED – DIRTY JOKES
Recorded live in New York City, GILBERT GOTTFRIED – DIRTY JOKES tears down the walls of good taste in his gleefully foul-mouthed performance. It’s a great pick for a Valentine snuggle-in with a loved one.
Feb. 21 - LOUIS C.K.: CHEWED UP
Keeping with the theme of profane, vulgar, and obscenely funny, Louis C.K. insists on telling the truth, whether you like it or not. From male bodily fluids, to the joys of being white, LOUIS C.K.: CHEWED UP is risk-taking at its best.
Feb. 28 - BRIAN REGAN: STANDING UP
Take a break from shock-comedy with Brian Regan’s perfect balance of sophisticated writing and physicality in BRIAN REGAN: STANDING UP.
March 7 – CARLOS MENCIA: NO STRINGS ATTACHED
Catch Carlos's take on American diversity, and the stupidity he sees all around him in CARLOS MENCIA: NO STRINGS ATTACHED. As Carlos would say, “If you ain't laughing, you ain't living."
This past December, The Comedy Network kicked some serious ass-scoring its highest average monthly audience ever with A18-49 viewers for both Primetime and 24 hour viewing.* The Comedy Network’s Saturday night specials proved to be a driving force in December’s ratings grab, and with an all-new roster of heavyweight comedians, SATURDAY NIGHT STAND-UP is sure to take the gold this month.
