NEW SERIES/SPECIALS
Evolution [HD] (3 x 60min) Canadian Premiere
Sunday, February 8 beginning 7 pm ET/4pm PT
How did amoeba turn into trees? Why are 99.9% of the species that have lived on Earth now extinct? And why are viruses the most successful entities alive? Evolution takes viewers on a fascinating journey of scientific discovery as it seeks to explain how the planet got from there to here.
Shark Nicole [HD] (1 x 60min) Canadian Premiere
Tuesday, February 10 at 8 pm ET/PT
In 2005, a great white shark entered the record books by completing the longest shark migration ever recorded. Named Nicole by researchers, the shark made a 12,400-mile (20,000-kilometre) marathon circuit from Africa to Australia. The journey, which lasted nine months, also included the fastest return migration of any known marine animal. This special follows the baffling patterns of Nicole and her fascinating journey underwater.
Congo Bush Pilots [HD] (1 x 60min) Canadian Premiere
Tuesday, February 17 at 10 pm ET/PT
Bush piloting in the Congo – a country crippled by 30 years of war and famine – may be one of the world’s most hazardous professions. The pilots come from all over; ranging from developed world drop-outs to ex-army fliers to adrenalin junkies. Some come for the money, some for the appeal of living on the outer edge of right and wrong. In a nation not much smaller than Western Europe, where large sections of the country are inaccessible by road, the population is utterly dependent on bush pilots – flyers with the courage and skill to land planes on some of the world’s most challenging terrain.
