| CTV News Delivers Extensive Coverage of the Throne Speech and the Federal Budget, Jan. 26 & 27 |

As parliament resumes on January 26, the fate of Stephen Harper’s minority government hangs in the balance. CTV, CTV Newsnet, CP24 and CTV.ca deliver complete live coverage of the throne speech on Monday, January, 26 and the new federal budget on Tuesday, January 27.
As Parliament Hill shifts into high gear, Sandie Rinaldo joins CTV Newsnet on a permanent basis beginning Monday, January 26. This new role will be in addition to her duties as weekend anchor for CTV NATIONAL NEWS WITH SANDIE RINALDO, co-host of W-FIVE and backup anchor for CTV NATIONAL NEWS WITH LLOYD ROBERTSON.
“Sandie brings a great deal of experience, editorial muscle and stature to our national all-news channel” said Robert Hurst, President of CTV News and Current Affairs. “Her experience covering live events like the Gulf and Iraq wars, the deaths of two popes and the fall of the Berlin Wall, will fit perfectly with the live demands of CTV Newsnet.”
CTV’s coverage of Monday’s throne speech and Tuesday’s budget begins each morning at 6 a.m. with CANADA AM, followed by wall-to-wall coverage on CTV Newsnet and CP24. On Monday, January 26, Sandie Rinaldo hosts the CTV NEWSNET SPECIAL PRESENTATION: THRONE SPEECH, beginning at 1 p.m. On Tuesday, January 27, Lloyd Robertson anchors the CTV SPECIAL PRESENTATION: BUDGET 2009, beginning at 4 p.m., live across the country. At 5 p.m. on both days, CTV Newsnet’s marquee political program, ON THE HILL, deconstructs both the throne speech and the budget with guests including Liberal leadership candidate Michael Ignatieff. CTV’s coverage ends each night with the most-watched newscast in the country, CTV NATIONAL NEWS WITH LLOYD ROBERTSON at 11 p.m. (all times ET; visit CTV.ca to confirm local listings).
Also beginning Monday, January 26, CTV.ca delivers up-to-the-minute breaking news on the throne speech and the federal budget with live streaming video and an interactive feature that tracks the deficits and surpluses throughout the past 20 years.
