The first two dancers of the season have been eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance Canada, leaving 18 competitors in the running next week for the chance to become Canada’s favourite dancer. The results were revealed live during tonight’s broadcast by host Leah Miller after the three couples with the lowest number of votes were pulled to centre stage.
So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s first-ever bottom three couples were Natalli Reznik, 28, Toronto, Ont., and Kevin Mylrea, 22, Westbank, B.C., who performed a hip-hop routine Breanne Wong, 25, Ajax, Ont., and Francis Lafrenière, 28, St. Bruno, Que. who performed a Smooth Waltz routine and Romina D'Ugo, 22, Toronto, Ont., and Dario Milard, 19, St. Hubert, Que. who danced a hip-hop routine. Following the reveal, each dancer had the opportunity to dance for their lives before the judges deliberated and decided that Breanne Wong, a contemporary dancer and Kevin Mylrea, also a contemporary dancer, would be the first dancers eliminated from the competition.
Opening the Results show the Top 20 performed a Capoeira group number choreographed by Paul Becker, who first appeared on So You Think You Can Dance Canada as a judge during the Vancouver auditions. Bursting with jumps, flips and rhythmic movement, the 20 competitors were decked out in tribal costumes as they bounced off trampolines and thrilled the audience performing to “Maculele”, by Brazilian Mestre Marcos Barrão.
