| Family Channel and DECODE Entertainment Break Ground with Live Taping of Teen Sitcom The Latest Buzz |

Astral Media's Family Channel and DHX Media's DECODE Entertainment will tape an episode of The Latest Buzz in front of a live studio audience, marking the first time a multi-camera series aimed at teens has done so in Canada. On Friday, October 10, cameras will roll on the Canadian original series' episode, The Live From Teen Buzz Issue, all in front of a packed house of kids.
Canadian director Brian Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond, The Drew Carey Show, Lizzie McGuire) will direct the live episode set in the office of teen magazine, Teen Buzz, using a multi-camera, classic sitcom format. The Live From Teen Buzz Issue was written by The Latest Buzz creator, Gemini Award and Writers Guild of Canada Award-winner, Brent Piaskoski (Naturally,Sadie, Radio Free Roscoe). The live episode will air in 2009 on Family Channel as part of Season 3 of The Latest Buzz.
Family will give one lucky viewer the opportunity to participate in this groundbreaking television event with a walk-on role. The winner will get to flex his or her acting muscle in the live episode and can bring two friends to the live taping in Toronto to join in the fun. Viewers can enter online at Family.ca up until September 28. The winner will be announced on Family First Fridays on October 3.
The first season of the Canadian original series, produced by DECODE Entertainment in association with Family Channel, premiered to record audience numbers in March of 2008, making it the most-watched series premiere ever in Family Channel's 20-year history1. The second season premieres on Family Channel on Friday, October 3 at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT.
The Latest Buzz centers around five grade-nine students who get the unlikely assignment of their lives when struggling magazine Teen BUZZ hires them on. The quintet must rely on their individual gifts - and on each other - to crank out quality stories while contending with deadlines, their boss, teachers and parents. The press team includes rich girl fashionista, Amanda (Vanessa Morgan); the music guru, Noah (Justin Kelly); and Wilder (Munro Chambers) the gamer. Rebecca (Zoë Belkin) covers the school beat and her best friend, Michael (Demetrius Joyette), has an ear for celebrity gossip.
