Showcase Sets the Dial on Fire this Fall with New Seasons of Critically Acclaimed U.S. Series
Posted on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 - 05:42 PM
Showcase

Kicking off on September 3, Showcase presents a stellar 10 p.m. Fall line-up packed with gripping scandals, hilarious shenanigans and critically acclaimed programming sure to keep even the toughest critic tuning in week after week.

Returning series new to the schedule include the Canadian premiere of Weeds, Season Four, starring Emmy® nominated Mary-Louise Parker as television’s most famous drug-dealing mom, Nancy Botwin. In the season opener, which became Showtime’s most-watched telecast in its history with over 1.3 millions total viewers in the US, Nancy relocates her family from Agrestic to a sleepy little town outside the Mexican boarder. Will the Botwin’s will be able to make a fresh start or will their past business dealings follow them? Find out Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning September 7.*

Canadian fans of the Golden Globe Award® and Emmy Award® winning series The Shield, won’t have to wait to see the final season – Showcase is premiering the seventh season exactly one week after FX. See how it all ends for Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis) as he and his family have been greenlit (marked for death) thanks to the double cross by Strike Team member Shane Vendrell. Catch the final chapter of Vic Mackey’s story as it all begins to unfold Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning September 9.

Golden Globe Award® and Emmy Award® nominated actress Holly Hunter also returns to Showcase in the second season of Saving Grace on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning September 4. Hunter returns to top acting form as intense Oklahoma City police detective with a fiery spirit and an audacious life. Will Grace save herself or is redeeming others her only salvation?

Blackmail. Murder. And the pursuit of wealth and happiness. The Riches returns for another season full of scams. Known as one of the best con artist familys in the south, the Malloy’s or “the Riches” go back to life on the RV after a close call. Dahlia, Golden Globe Award® and Emmy® nominated Mini Driver, takes the family on the road and back to their gypsy roots while Wayne, Emmy® nominated Eddie Izzard, stays behind to protect his family and continue his quest to steal the American Dream. The Riches, Season Two can be seen Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning September 10.

Providing viewers a much needed Tommy Gavin fix, Showcase will debut original minisodes of Rescue Me this fall. Penned by series creators Denis Leary (who has received both Golden Globe Award® and Emmy Award® nominations for his role as Tommy Gavin), Peter Tolan and Rescue Me vet Evan Reilly, minisodes feature Leary and other regular cast members in stand alone comedic vignettes. Season five of the hit series, guest starring Michael J. Fox, returns to Showcase in Spring 2009. Catch all the witty banter on Sundays directly after Weeds (approximately 10:45 p.m. ET/PT) beginning September 7.*

The shenanigans also continue with the Emmy® award winning series My Name is Earl with back-to-back episodes Mondays at 10 p.m. beginning at September 8 and back-to-back episodes of Golden Globe Award® and Emmy Award® winning series The Office, Mondays at 11 p.m. beginning September 8.
