Down Beat (wt) is a character-driven documentary series that follows the intersecting stories of the Vancouver Police Department and the residents of city’s notorious Downtown Eastside. With unprecedented access to the Beat Enforcement Team, each of the 10 half-hour episodes reveals a gritty, never-before-seen look at these officers as they deal with the harsh realities of their beat. In the past several years, the residents in the region’s 12 square blocks have struggled with social issues including drug dealing and addiction, prostitution, HIV infection, crime and inadequate housing. Down Beat provides an insider’s look at the hard challenges faced by the residents and the officers who confront them, capturing the real story of policing one of Canada’s most troubled neighbourhoods.

Six people who came perilously close to losing their lives in the bush return for a weekend with an experienced outdoor instructor. While there, they share their near-death stories and learn vital new survival skills.
