With every game-winning goal and every game-saving stop, NHL Network continues to be the hottest source of hockey action for NHL fans as the network unveils its 2008/09 programming dedicated to the great frozen game.
From the opening faceoff to the final whistle, NHL Network is home to everything hockey. NHL Network features live NHL games, the signature daily highlights show, NHL On The Fly, live games from the NCAA and ECHL, vintage and amateur hockey games, along with hockey news/updates, extended game highlights, player profiles and interviews. Themed programming and original network productions round out NHL Network’s 24-hour hockey schedule.
NHL Network’s programming for the 2008/09 season is as follows:
Live NHL Hockey
NHL Network will provide viewers with more than 40 live NHL games during the 2008/09 season, including a ‘Game-of-the-Week’ match-up between U.S. rivals. Also returning this upcoming year is the popular Fan Favourite, giving viewers the opportunity to choose which games they want to watch by voting on the network’s website at www.nhlnetwork.com. NHL Network’s live NHL schedule next season follows another hard-hitting NHL game package in 2007/08 which featured pre-season, regular season and playoff games with stars such as Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin.
NHL On The Fly and NHL On The Fly: Final
NHL Network’s signature show, NHL On The Fly, will be back for another season in Fall 2008 every night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. ET, giving hockey fans live look-ins to NHL games. NHL On The Fly hosts Brian Duff and Dan Pollard provide viewers with up-to-the-minute hockey information and extended highlights – including overtime shootouts, real-time scores, interviews, pre- and post-game reports, news conferences and expert analysis from a variety of NHL veterans, including Gary Green and Dave Reid. NHL On The Fly: Final also returns with a daily one-hour NHL wrap-up/highlights show from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. ET immediately following NHL On The Fly.
NHL On The Fly will produce original network presentations in celebration of major events on the 2008/09 NHL calendar, such as the NHL All-Star Game, NHL Trade Deadline, 2009 Stanley Cup Finals and NHL Entry Draft.
NHL Live!
NHL Network’s daily simulcast of the popular, two-hour ‘NHL Live!’ program returns to the lineup for its second season. Hosts Don La Greca and E.J. Hradek offer in-depth analysis on all things hockey while integrating telephone questions and email inquiries from hockey fans throughout North America. Broadcast live from the NHL Store in the heart of Manhattan, NHL Live! airs weekdays at 12 noon ET.
NHL ‘All Access’ Programming
NHL Network’s ‘All Access’ programming, provided by NHL Productions, returns in Fall 2008, taking viewers behind the scenes of the NHL with an all-access pass to exclusive game coverage, player interviews and footage. Dates and times TBA.
Classic NHL Playoff Series
Back for a sixth season, these action-packed NHL Network exclusive presentations summarize an entire NHL Stanley Cup Playoff series – up to 7 games – in each 60-minute show. Classic NHL Playoff Series airs weekdays at 8 p.m. ET.
Top 10
A staple of NHL Network’s broadcast schedule, Top 10 returns for a fourth season in 2008. Each 30-minute episode counts down a list of 10 NHL milestones or accomplishments, such as Top 10 All-Star Performances, Top 10 Montreal Canadiens of All Time, and Top 10 NHL Records. Top 10 airs weekdays at 7 p.m. ET.
Frozen In Time
Now in its fourth season, Frozen In Time looks back at some of hockey’s most memorable moments on and off the ice, such as players facing their former teams for the first time, Game 7s of the Stanley Cup Final, and 500 goal scorers. Frozen In Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET.
Relive the Magic
NHL Network invites viewers to relive some of the greatest games in Stanley Cup history with the third season of Relive the Magic. Provided by NHL Productions and hosted by Dan Moriarty, each two-hour episode includes commentary from both an NHL star that played in the game and an NHL fan that was in attendance.
