Astral Media’s Family Channel continues Family Jams, a summer of exclusive, star-studded, music-themed television events, with Disney Channel Games. Over 50 Disney Channel stars from around the globe convene at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida to compete in comical relay races, grand-scale obstacle courses and all-out-fun challenges in this mini-series featuring the stars of Hannah Montana, Camp Rock, The Cheetah Girls, Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Cory in the House and many other Family series. Disney Channel Games will air in four special presentations Fridays at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, from August 1 to August 22 leading up to the Games’ closing ceremonies, which will air on Monday, September 1 at 5 p.m. ET/PT, following a marathon of the first four episodes.
Family OnDemand audiences enjoy another sneak peak of premium programming with an early look at the first episode of Disney Channel Games, beginning Tuesday, July 29. Subsequent episodes will be available on Family OnDemand on the Tuesday following the premiere on Family Channel.
Disney Channel Games features stars from 15 countries from around the world, including Canadian Jasmine Richards (Camp Rock), who compete for the Disney Channel Games Cup. Canada’s own Michael Seater (Life With Derek) serves as a special correspondent for these action- and laugh-packed games, hosted by funny-man Brian Stepanek (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) and featuring musical performances by Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, The Cheetah Girls, Demi Lovato and Jordan Pruitt.
In the premiere telecast on Friday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT the stars are divided into four teams and captains are chosen. The teams must build a chariot and race it to the finish line. At the post-games concert, Miley Cyrus performs songs from her new album Breakout.
On Friday, August 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, the teams participate in challenges including weaving through an obstacle course while linked together. Platinum recording artists Jonas Brothers perform music from the album Just a Little Bit Longer.
On Friday, August 15 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, stars must match their rival teammates to their baby pictures or face making a splash in the dunk booth. Jordan Pruitt performs.
On Friday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, the teams take part in a human foosball match and the Jonas Brothers, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, and The Cheetah Girls all face off in an intense "Tug of Four" competition. At the post-games concert, Demi Lovato and Jonas Brothers perform.
On Labour Day, Monday, September 1 at 5 p.m. ET/PT, the teams compete in the UltraMegaUltimateObstac-tacular Relay Challenge, racing in giant hamster balls while maneuvering through obstacles. The winning team is chosen and is awarded the prized Disney Channel Games Cup. The Closing Ceremonies features a concert by The Cheetah Girls.
