Flashpoint Delivers 1.1 Million Viewers on New Night
Posted on Friday, July 25, 2008 - 02:39 PM
CTV

In its Thursday night debut, CTV’s Flashpoint was right on target, winning its time period for the third week in a row and matching its series premiere audience of 1.1 million viewers. Flashpoint’s audience was up 19% compared to last week and more than tripled the audience of its timeslot competitor, Swingtown (Global; 311,000). Flashpoint was the second most-watched program on Canadian television last night following Canada’s #1 summer series, So You Think You Can Dance (CTV, 1.38 million).

Flashpoint’s A18-49 audience (431,000) has now grown 18% since its season premiere and the series has maintained its A25-54 audience (485,000) for three straight weeks. Heading into its fourth week, Flashpoint is now averaging 1.03 million viewers.

In the U.S., Flashpoint drew 6.7 million viewers for CBS last night, and was the #1 program in its time slot and #1 with Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. The episode also drew 1.4 million more viewers than CBS’ Swingtown last week.

Yesterday, international distributors Alchemy Television and Tele München Group announced that Flashpoint has been sold to more than 50 countries and regions worldwide, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, Scandinavia, and Latin America. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Viewers who may have missed last night’s episode will get a second chance to check it out with an encore broadcast this Sunday, July 27 at 10 p.m. ET on CTV. Flashpoint continues to be available on demand on The CTV Video Player at CTV.ca and at iTunes.ca.

In Episode 4, premiering Thursday, July 31 at 10 pm on CTV/CBS, Rebecca Kessfield (Chandra West) speeds across town, praying under her breath. Bursting into a little house in the Beaches, she finds her sister Sadie on the bathroom floor, kidney-punched, throwing up blood, a newborn baby crying in the bedroom. The problem is Sadie’s abusive husband is a cop. Enraged, Rebecca takes Pete’s (Kenneth Mitchell) gun from a drawer and heads to Pete’s local cop bar. When Rebecca takes Pete to his sailboat on the waterfront – the place he married her sister, the perfect place for a troubled cop to “commit suicide” – she has no idea that Ed, Jules, and the SRU are one step ahead of her, pulling out all the stops in a desperate effort to protect one of their own.
