Off the Fence (OTF) has secured a five year first look output deal with Canada's leading all-HD broadcaster High Fidelity HDTV.
High Fidelity HDTV owns and operates four all-HD channels in Canada, and is about to expand internationally. Under the terms of the output deal, many hours of existing and new programming represented by OTF will be shown exclusively in Canada on all four High Fidelity channels.
Bo Stehmeier, head of sales and co-productions at Off the Fence, brokered the deal with John Panikkar, partner and co-founder of High Fidelity HDTV, following the sale by OTF to High Fidelity of 37 hours of programming at MIPTV. Titles previously picked up by the broadcaster include Wild Asia (9x60’), which reveals the incredible breadth of the region’s environments and wildlife, and archaeological doc Guge – Lost Kingdom of Tibet (1x60’).
“We have developed a natural synergy with High Fidelity HDTV and are thrilled to be working more closely together. As a factual player these types of alliances are becoming tremendously important as it creates the financial network needed to bring the best ideas to the screen,” says Stehmeier.
"High Fidelity HDTV's channels are committed to offering the best HD programming from around the world to our viewers, and that is exactly what OTF brings to this new collaboration," added Panikkar. "OTF's reputation for excellence is known throughout the industry, and we are delighted to be working more closely with the OTF team".
