The Rogers Media Television group, a division of Rogers Communications Inc., is pleased to announce they have signed an unprecedented, multiple-title deal with ShineReveille International, the international sales and distribution arm of the Shine Group and Media Rights Capital (MRC), the leading independent film, television and digital studio. Through the deal, Rogers’ Citytv will air at least eight new scripted series from the MRC’s catalog in the 2008-2009 broadcast season.
This is the first partnership of its kind that ShineReveille has undertaken with a Canadian broadcaster and the first time ShineReveille has distributed scripted content for MRC. It also marks the first major announcement from ShineReveille and MRC, who formed a joint venture earlier this month, creating the largest independent distribution stream of scripted broadcast content on the international television market.
“We are pleased to partner with ShineReveille and MRC”, said Leslie Sole, CEO of the Rogers TV Group which includes Citytv. “They represent innovative concepts and have established new thinking in a short period of time.”
"We are thrilled to join forces with ShineReveille", said Malcolm Dunlop, Executive Vice President, Rogers TV Group "This innovative partnership provides exceptional new titles, offering diverse and exciting programming to our fall line-up and to Canadian audiences."
“Rogers’ purchase of MRC’s entire scripted series slate is a true testament to the quality of content produced by MRC. We couldn’t have found a better partner than Rogers, and we’re looking forward to working with them to build a strong and lasting partnership,” said John Pollak, Senior Vice President of ShineReveille International.
“We are excited to be in business with the Rogers Media group,” said Keith Samples, President of MRC Television. “Leslie’s group provides a terrific Canadian home for our program line-up. We look forward to working together to bring the best possible shows, marketing and promotion to the Canadian audience.”
The eight scripted titles produced by MRC and distributed by ShineReveille include the dramatic series "I.M. Valentine," "Easy Money," and “F.A.T. City”; the animated series "The Life and Times of Tim" and “The Goode Family”; the comedy series "Rita Rocks," “Outnumbered,” and "Krod Mandoon," which will air this fall with mid-season pick-ups. The deal takes effect September 1, 2008.
