| Stardom Seekers Take the Spotlight In the premiere of 90 Days in Hollywood |

For the approximately 200,000 actors living in Los Angeles, winter is a season of strategy. With less than 900 parts up for grabs, landing the right role could be the key to stardom.
With stars in their eyes and fire in their bellies, 90 Days in Hollywood, follows struggling actors seeking fame in Hollywood during pilot season. Premiering Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Life Network, this series follows the lives of nine actors from the U.K., Canada and the U.S. as they make their way through the daunting maze of Tinseltown. British actor and film star Richard E. Grant (Withnail and I , Jack and Sarah, Bright Young Things) narrates the series. Grant is also the author of With Nails – The Film Diaries of Richard E. Grant, a revealing account of the film business and life among its stars.
90 Days in Hollywood interweaves the actors’ stories as they deal with pre-audition anxiety, the tense atmosphere of the auditions themselves and the excruciatingly difficult wait for call-backs in the days or weeks to follow. In an industry riddled with rejection, the actors struggle to support themselves and stay focused on their goals. In each episode, major Hollywood players, such as casting director Eddie Foy (M.A.S.H., The French Connection), offer their candid opinions on the aspiring actors’ charisma and talent. Watch as:
•Actor-singer-songwriter Holiday Hopke’s strategy for success involves getting Madonna to hear her music.
•Gail Greaves works nights in a bar, forgoing sleep to work as a bikini extra on feature film shoots.
•Bronx-born Elisa Bocanegra demonstrates that she has attitude and talent although she lacks traditional movie star looks.
•Royal Shakespeare Company actor Steven Elliot leaves his wife and young sons in London and gives himself six weeks to land a part in LA.
•Actor Jade Carter, who has moved from small-town Alberta, attempts to accomplish his dream.
•Csaba Lucas, a Hungarian Canadian who talks like Arnold Schwarzenegger, approaches industry players wherever he goes.
•Seventeen-year-old New York City native and family breadwinner, Edwin Hodge takes his mother and siblings with him when he moves to Tinseltown.
•Opinionated and glamorous Rowena King comes to LA after working in British television.
•Daz Crawford, a handsome professional basketball player and former boxer, struggles to avoid being typecast in “brute parts that get murdered in the first act.”
In Episode 1:
Before embarking on the biggest acting adventure of their lives, the actors meet and reveal their hopes and fears about trying to survive pilot season. The episode also introduces one of Hollywood’s major players, casting director Eddie Foy, who lays it on the line for our would-be stars.
Episode 2
Rowena King auditions for a lead role in a primetime medical drama; 17-year-old Edwin Hodge moves from inner-city New York to LA relying on his burgeoning acting career to support his family; and actor-singer-songwriter Holiday Hopke can’t wait for Madonna to hear her music.
Episode 3
Edwin auditions for a part in a new Warner Bros. pilot and wows the casting executives at Disney; despite Gail Greaves’ great looks and passion for acting, her current role is limited to tending bar at a Hollywood club; Steven Elliot, an actor with London’s Royal Shakespeare Company, prepares to leave behind his wife and young sons while he tries his luck in Hollywood; and Jade Carter leaves Ponoka, Alberta, behind to follow his passion in the city of Angels.
Episode 4
When asked to dress like a Las Vegas stripper for an audition, Gail selects what she usually wears when bartending; Elisa Bocanegra has made the move from the Bronx to LA but returns to New York City for stage auditions and the voice coaching that has helped her diminish her Spanish accent and a lisp; and British former boxer, Daz Crawford – while not a trained actor – is convinced he’ll stand out in LAwith his accent and buff physique.
Episode 5
Daz attends a flashy movie premiere with his newly hired publicist and meets with immigration lawyers and a Hollywood career consultant who “Americanizes” his resume; Holiday receives a business card from a Fox Music executive while playing guitar at a nightclub; and Hungarian-born Csaba Lucas spends his last night at home in Vancouver before leaving to pursue big film roles in LA.
