| New TV Show Troubleshoots the Trials of Parenthood |
| Posted
on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 - 05:12 PM |
Disruptive teenage behaviour is one of the universally accepted toils of parenting. At some juncture of every child’s maturity (or lack thereof), each and every parent has or will experience a perplexing period of frustration, anxiety, agitation, anger, and/or confusion. That’s why ichannel is introducing Helen Jones and “Helen Help Us!”.
Helen is a founder and past president of The Association of Parent Support Groups in Ontario (APSGO), whose agenda is “to create a society where all parents are aware of and have access to the strategies, practical techniques and support needed to deal with the disruptive behavior of their children”. She has been a frequent radio and television talk show guest expert, and often writes for parenting periodicals, national magazines and newspapers. Currently serving on the faculty of the William
Glasser Institute, she has taught Dr. Glasser’s theories to parents and professionals, as well as provide training for teachers, counselors and Native Canadian groups.
“Helen Help Us!” is a show that supports and empowers parents dealing with disruptive children, by providing practical solutions and unique insight designed to circumvent issues like bad language, drug use, promiscuity and rebellious tendencies. Helen offers no nonsense commentary and advice on parental challenges and rational approaches to solving behavioural problems, creating dialogues, and relating to adolescent or teen perspectives. Viewers can email their questions to helenhelpus@ichannel.ca.
“Helen Help Us!” premieres Friday, March 21, 2008; watch it Fridays and Sundays at 7:30pm, on ichannel.
